4 miles outside on snow packed icy roads at 14 min miles and 1 mile inside on the treadmill 11:30 pace.

I am guessing that running on slippery snowy roads counts for more miles ;)  My calves were killing me.  My ankles and shins too.  The fast mile felt great!  I think Ihave my nre winter plan for bad road days.  Do what I can outside and then bring in in for a bit speedier pace.

That sounds like an awesome plan--the winter running is a killer leg workout! Leg workout+some speed inside sounds so well-rounded! Merry day after Christmas!

You never cease to amaze me! What a trooper! Okay, I can't take the treadmill anymore--at least that's how I feel today (and I didn't even run due to the fact that I had to be at work at o'dark hundred this morning!)but the depressing effects of Tuesday's run on the treadmill still linger!

I'm ready to buy some Yaktrax or Stabilicers Sport (go to cozywinters.com and check these out!) so I don't break my neck outside. Then I need to get the right cold weather gear duct tape an old pair of shoes and then buck up and get busy! There is no way I'll be able to do enough miles on the dreadmill~!

I've heard the Yaktrax are good, but get ruined easy on pavement, so patchy weather conditions will mess them up. The stabilicers sports are supposed to work on snow, ice, or roads. I wonder if anyone on the blog has any experience with the stabilicer sports?

I don't know if they count as extra miles, but mine sure wore me out today.

From leslie on Fri, Dec 26, 2008 at 19:35:03

You make me tired Marion. I am plumb tuckered out from eating sweetrolls and candy and lounging on my couch all day! Tomorrow I am going to the Oval with Maurine and Gary and they will try and kick me around 15 miles!!

Cute blog name!

From MARION on Sat, Dec 27, 2008 at 18:37:01

Thanks Britta- I usually get a little blue in the winter anyway, but this year I feel totally betrayed by it. I realize that that is REALLY dumb, but my inner two year old is really throwing fits about the snow and is chanting,"SPRING SPRING SPRING." :)
