71 minutes of yoga.  This class was short so I added some extra poses at the end to get my stinky hips ;D  I am hoping for a run this morning.  Currently it's 4:40 am.  I forgot that Sudafed won't let me sleep :(  I figured if I can't sleep, may as well get some yoga in ;)

1.75 miles on the treadmill.  My knee started to squak so I hopped off ;)

YEAH- Dr Brady is getting me in today at noon!  YEe HaW!!!  Let the torture begin ;D

***Dr report.  YOW-za!  My hip is a mess.  I had 6 needles sticking out of my bum/hip region by the end of the appointment.  The hip portion of my injury is going to be better fast :)  The ITBS may take a bit longer, but he thinks I will be running again in 2 weeks for sure, and back to normal mileage by 4-8 weeks.  No running at all for 1-2 weeks.  My ITB was the very worst mid thigh and then my hips were a total disaster.  I am cleared for all the yoga, biking and swimming I want :)  Maybe I will go get the monthly pass at the hotel for the next month just so I can kick my bum a bit in the pool.  Maybe I'll get brave and swim in the reservoir with Michelle.  I need a wet suit.  As I sit here, my bum is throbbing.  I need lunch.  I am STARVED!!!

Are you feeling better? I couldn't find any emergen-C at Crisps. I swear that stuff hides from me.

Nice early morning yoga!!! Hope the hip feels better!

You did 71 minutes of yoga BEFORE 4:40 am???!!!! If that's what Sudafed does to you, you better never take meth! Get some sleep today, girl.

I did that same yoga routine yesterday and the day before. I'll try to fit it in tonight after The Biggest Loser. My hips felt a little different, not really painful, just different, on my run this morning.

Michelle- I found some last night at Maceys :) It's in a big box. I am going shopping today, if I find some I'll call you and get you some :) I am actually feeling a lot better. I think I stopped the sinus infection dead in it's tracks! ACtually, I am sure it was the orange you gave me ;)

Leslie- I think it is getting better. We'll see how it is doing after the Dr, beats it up tomorrow ;)

Carolyn- I am glad you are fitting it in. I always just feel "looser" after yoga. Right now, my hip is just hurting less :) Which is VERY good. Here's hoping your hips get a grip. and yes, I will avoid meth. I LOVE to sleep :)

Nice workout so early! Glad the sinus infection is gone and the hips are feeling good...now just get some sleep!

Just got back from the doc. Good news I will heal and I am in no hurry. Bad news, it will take a bit of time, but as I said in my "good news" I am in no hurry :) I posted more details in my blog entry.

6 needles?!!! YIKES!!! Glad you're in no hurry to get back to running. Glad the hip will heal sooner. Keep doing those fun yoga, bike and swim and ITB strengthening exercises. You have an awesome positive attitude. Hope you had a nice "comfy food" lunch!

From marion on Tue, Sep 15, 2009 at 17:27:18 from 71.213.124.121

You know Smooth, I feel SO lucky/BLESSED that my marathon went SO well, that I don't mind taking some time to heal well ;) PS- The needles are like 6-8 inches long too. Cool, weird and freaky all at the same time ;) Especially since I didn't feel a thing!

You should be happy about your marathon. You did awesome!! You are lucky you enjoy so many activites and can stay in shape without running for now. It is hard to keep you down girl!! What an inspiration you are!!

So when is the red flag raised for ITB? Ummmm my left leg/thigh, shin (path of L4 to L5) is on fire from the hip to the foot. ITB or sciatica? I run until the endorphins kill the pain. Sometimes I wake and it is not there only to rage itself another day. Did he give advice on shoes? Are the "hurt so good" massages not good? Meaning I love for my husband to find the "trigger" point and target the massage there. Is that kind of like your acupuncture experience? I obviously can't stop running right now. I will after Oct 3rd. Any advice? Been icing in the river and massaging. I have thought about hanging upside down and/or sticking a knife in to the nerve and twisting it, "there see how you like that". Enjoy your healing time Marion. You are still an inspiration : DDDD

From marion on Wed, Sep 16, 2009 at 13:19:05 from 71.213.124.121

Julie- ITB usually manifests itself as a pain on the outside frontish side of your knee. IT goes away when you stop running. Siatica is typically in your bum and going down the back of your leg and possibly to your toes. HAlf Lord of the FIshes is my favoirte pose for the DUMB piriformis, a little muscle deep in your bum that pinches the sciatic nerve JUST FOR FUN!!! Here is the link http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/485

I prefer to do this pose with the arm wrapped around the leg, as to pull the knee into the chest more. It really makes my piriformis scream! IF you google yoga poses for siatica, you should get more ideas.

From JulieC on Wed, Sep 16, 2009 at 15:12:57 from 207.225.207.4

thanks marion. looked at the pose from the link you sent. will do. not sure I want my piriformis to scream. Yikes!!! It is already screaming, I think I have a blend of ITB and Pirformis syndrome cause it hurts in both places : ((((

From marion on Wed, Sep 16, 2009 at 17:41:42 from 71.213.124.121

Yes, I think they can be related. The ITB comes all the way up into the hips. the piriformis is a bully and gets EVERYONE in the hip all upset. I think they gang up on the ITB becasue it is so long and gets to leave the hips ;D Once you get the hips to feel better and get along it will help your ITB heal. Do you have a foam roller for your ITB? That helps :) GOOD LUCK!
