Best day ever!At about 6:10 my house began to fill with millions and billions of the bestest, nicest, runner folk in the WHOLE WORLD!!! We jogged over to the start and warmed up, ran and them came back to my house to EAT! Paul and David were the best cookers and babysitters in the west. *** Real race report- 9:04, 9:56, 10:13, 7:48(40 sec for .9) Ok- I started by jogging over to the start with all the folks at my house :) My first mile was fine, not too hard, about a 7 on a scale of 1-10. There was a girl who started with me who was shooting for a sub 30. I told her to hang with me for as long as she could. She did until mid mile 2. In mile 2 I was feeling tired. About 1.8, my ITB started to complain, so I dropped the pace and kept it down. I slowed quite a bit in here, ~11-11:30 pace. The knee calmed itself :) At about 2.5, an older woman, who I had passed earlier, passed me. As she passed me, she told a teenage boy, "Don't let your Grandma beat you!!" I thought to myself, "I am NOT going to let that grandma beat ME!!" So I figured, even if my knee starts screaming, I can punch it the last 1/2 mile, so I did. The knee grew a brain and kept quite, and I took off. It actually felt really good to take off like that. I was surprised to see I had the kick in me. All in all, not too bad. :)
THANKS!! I am off to the SF reservoir with Michelle, Luz et al :) PS- that is more than a minute PR for the course :) **** We had a GREAT time at the reservoir. That is some COLD water!!! :)
