Party....don't let your mama know!  Party....or she won't let you go!!

We had a GREAT time today with all of our FRB's!  Let's see who came; Sarah, Sasha & Crew, Kelli & Scott, Jon A, Kellie & Tyler, Michelle, Paul & the men and my David and off spring.  It was so much fun to see everyone out in force.  I am sure there were more bloggers out there that I did not know :(  Next year, we want everyone to come for sure!!

Now for my race report-  Thanks to Julia and Sasha I made it in under 31 minutes.  Julia was my pacer for the race.  She lost me for mile two, but at the beginning of mile three she was walking and so we hooked up again.  She was fantastic.  We started out way too fast, but it's hard to hold back the sweet pacer, ah youth!  I paid for it in mile 2.  Sasha saved the day at 2.5 miles.  I was pretty pooped and he coaxed me along and I did it!  I was feeling pretty bummed that I am so slow, but I looked up my results from my last OFFICIAL 5k (onion days) and I have improved.  Last time I placed 99th and 13th in my division with a time of 37:18.  So I really did a TON better!  I am going to keep this whole running thing up and see what happens next year ;)

Oh, and for the icing on the cake, I got to ride my bike while Michelle and Sasha ran 4 more miles.  I kept up, but barely.  They can sure haul.  My breaks are horrible on my bike, so, I was a bit afraid on the down hill.

Great day!  Great fun!

Yummy Pancake Syrup, just for TylerS :D

1 Cup butter, 2 Cup sugar, 2 Tablespoons Karo Syrup, bring to a boil, then add; 1 Cup buttermilk or cream.  Boil 4 minutes, then add; 3 tsp vanilla, 2 tsp baking soda, whisk together well.  Use a LARGE pan.

Thanks again for the great breakfast!! That is the best syrup!! I had to force myself to STOP eating. Great time and who knows maybe you will improve 7 minutes next year. Keep up the good work and the awesome attitude.

From jona on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 14:42:42

Thanks for that great breakfast! Thank your family for letting all us sweaty runners invade your home! Loved the pancakes.

You did awesome on your race! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

From MichelleL on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 14:57:03

Jon - are you the guy I didn't really talk to? Dang it! Why were you so shy? Wait- why was I so shy? Next time.

Marion - that syrup reminds me of the topping on cinnabon - really bad but oh so good. Thanks so much for hosting and I hope your family lets you do it again :)

From jona on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 15:28:54

Michelle, I'm not a very outgoing guy. Need to be, but..... This was good for me, just to get out there and go somewhere where I normally don't go is big for me. Next time I will introduce myself.

Thanks Marion!!!

From Kelli on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 15:47:27

THANK YOU MARION!!! And that recipe is being copied for sure--it was so good! Sorry we were late, I just really wanted to win an iPod, darn it! I wish we had had more time to chat, had we known how bad the traffic was, we woulda just hung out 'til the parade was over.

You did great! You cut 7 minutes!!! That is scary, cause now you have to cut 7 minutes off next year, too! Kidding, but how cool would that be?!?

Jon, are you shy?? I had not noticed.

From marion on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 15:48:02

My family is totally game for more FRB parties. They loved having everyone over. David doesn't talk much, but he loves to have people over and to go anywhere. We joke that if he were a dog he'd be a golden retriever :D

Hey Jon- you may not believe it but I am a very shy person. I have to force myself to get out there. It has gotten easier over time, but I really like to stay home and watch movies and never leave my house :)

Thank you so much Marion for your enthusiasm and joyful attitude...and your superb hospitality...I'm glad Julia worked out as a pacer....and yes I know there were more bloggers at the race..two of them won the 10 K and the 5K actually.

The caramel sauce I made last night had similar ingredients but I did it with fructose and agave sryup, butter and I got brave and used 2 % milk and it actually turned out super yummy..we put it on top of nectarine cobbler.

Thank you again. I stuffed myself and had a wonderful time!!!

From leslie on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 17:12:50

It was so fun reading all about the great race and Party!!! Marion, you totally kicked butt!!!!! Your time was AWESOME!!! I am putting the Onion Days down on my 2009 calender so I won't miss out! Did you guys have rain? I am dieing to try your syrup recipe too!!! Congratulations!!!! My last 5k was 32 min. and I gave it my all. I am impressed!

From marion on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 17:59:46

Rain? Did you say rain? It POURED ALL night long! There was a bit of rain for mile 3- just a tad and it POURed for the bike ride with Sasha and Michelle. My hoodies is totally FULLy soaked with water!

We missed you Lori and Les!

SArah- I need that recipe. I'd love to try it. I need to find out where you get your sugar sub's for a good price.

Julia was the best, thanks again!!!

From marion on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 18:01:08

I forgot to mention the rain, because I got to be a super hero and go with Sasha and Michelle. Yes, I had to go on bike, but still, I go to go :D

From kellies on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 18:02:41

Hello Marion. Thank you again for the yummy breakfast. However, should I feel guilty for eating 3 pancakes smothered in that yummy syrup? I hear you say that you can only have it twice a year and for some reason, I had no problem at all eating it nor do I feel one bit guilty :). I think this is why I have dieting issues. But really, it was so kind of you and it was so much fun meeting you and also finding someone who I know has been very good to Ben and his family, it's such a small world. I look forward to keeping in touch on the blog and at races. You did really well today and should be so proud of yourself!! Man, it's fun people like you that make me keep running becuase it's so much fun meeting new people. Thanks to everyone else who was at the "party", nice meeting you too and chatting a little bit. Hope to see you all soon.

From marion on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 18:10:58

THanks Kellie- it was so great to meet you too! You know it's not hard to love Ashley and Ben :)

And Kellie- anytime you want a really slow run, I'm your girl! :D

From luzylew on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 18:11:22

I am so very, very sad to have missed Onion Days this morning. I was all set to go, had the google map directions, and sliced melon ready and everything. But it sounds like it was fabulous. I will just read this blog entry a few times today and pretend I was there. That Julia's really something isn't she? Way to go on your 7 minute lead over last year!

From marion on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 18:15:43

We missed you too, Luz- I ate a pancake for you :) Oh, I ate one for Leslie, and Lori too. I ate them for lunch and now I am sick. Watermellon and green beans for dinner. Maybe a little chicken, but probably not. I need one of your omeletts for dinner- ooooh, that is exactly what I will fix!

LuzyLew- what is your name?

From Barry on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 18:21:54

Congratulation, that is an awesome time. I am glad to hear that you had such a good time. Now you get the honor of the "Ice bath of Death" :). Running does not come easy, but when it comes it is awesome. Keep up the good work and take it easy for the rest of the week. Also, have some ice cream for your reward for such a good race...

From Jodi on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 19:55:39

YOUR ARE AMAZING!!! 7 minutes off your time... awesome! I asked my hubby if we could ride our bikes (motorcycles) to Payson to join the party but our GPS said it's like a 21 hour drive and we would be back for work tomorrow. I'd already signed up for a race closer to home (1 1/2 hrs). But who knows maybe next year. Last year I went to Virginia Beach for a half. It sounds like everyone had a blast.

From Jodi on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 19:58:01

*wouldn't be back for work.

Sometimes my brain works faster than my fingers.

From Lucia on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 20:54:11

Excellent race Marion! Way to feed our fellow bloggers, I wish I'd been there! Have a great week!

From marion on Mon, Sep 01, 2008 at 21:07:19

Jodi and Lucia! We wish you had been here! The whole getting back for work can be a big problem when traveling across country for a 30 min race. (less for you two speedy chikas!)

Hey girls, the Hobble Creek Half is a biggie around here. There are plenty of great races out west! Although, I think I might rather travel and see you guys. I never go anywhere!

From Jennifer Pachev on Thu, Sep 11, 2008 at 17:57:10

From marion on Thu, Sep 11, 2008 at 18:13:30

You're welcome Jennifer! It was SO nice to see you again! Your race was FANTASTIC!!!! You can come over for breakfast any time you want to.
