suckiest run EVER!  AND, my browser shut down mid blogging and I lost all of my GREAT whiny details :p  I'll see if I can squeeze a bit more wine out of me ;D

This was supposed to be a 7 mile run with a 5 mile tempo in the middle.  Well, when the warm up was bad, I should have guessed that this was not going to fly.  Mile one of the tempo, 10:05, not what I wanted, but all that there was in my tanks.  Mile 2, 10:01, better, maybe this would be ok.  Maybe I can do this tempo and the world will be right :)  Did I mention the rain???  Light rain and breezy.  Mile three, I am struggling to get this mile to a 10.  Stupid shoe comes untied.  I can't get the pace back.  At the mid way, .5 of mile three, we turn around to come back, STRAIGHT INTO A STIFF HEAD WIND!  It just plain knocks the guts out of me.  I can't run a 10 to save my life, let alone with this bugger of a head wind.  The worst part was that I couldn't run it even with a stiff tail wind, that had to have been there!  So this really does a number on my head.  I actually yell out, "You've got to be kidding me!!!"  The farmers, if they were DUMB enough to be out in this weather, would have called the mental hospital!  I am ticked.  Well, we head east now, the wind is at our side.  They said the storm/winds would be coming from the South.  Not out there.  North wind :p  So nearly to mile 4 I hit a wall that was the size of Texas.  I have hit the wall only a few time.  this was more like a semi.  I had to walk.  It was like someone just popped my running balloon and I was a deflated soggy piece of rubber on the road.  I told Kim to go, but she wouldn't. We walked/jogged home, all soggy and down trodden.  Kim didn't mind too much, becasue she had more miles to go for the day.  I am still ticked about this run and want some revenge.  I'll get it on Saturday.  Brady wants me to do at least 10.  I'll do them at 10:30 to practice for the 1/2 next weekend.

Here is what the problem was....I think.  I woke up at 7, shouted at my family to CLEAN THE HOUSE!  We did for 2 hours until Kim came for me at 9.  I forgot to eat breakfast :(  I always eat 2 hours before a tempo.  I always drink.  I did nothing.  I had a little water at 7 and then cleaned and vacuumed my house like a mad woman.  I did not realize this until about mile 2.   So I think my lesson is learned.  I could have gu'd if it had dawned on me that I did not eat at all.

I was going to modify my running to make sure I was doing ok and not get more chest pain for the 1/2, but Brady wants me to train like normal to see if I flare up again.  We'll see :)

Sounds like a plan. Yeah, you only have to learn the lesson about fueling before a hard workout about every 6 months. You'll remember this one for a while. Sorry the tempo sucked. The good news is you don't have to make dinner tonight if you come to my house.

Rad- as soon as I get my passport, I am with you!

Michelle- I can't have dinner, my tacos were TOO FATTY! If I had just read the menu and see the healthTex ones :( Sorry, more wine with dinner. We'll be there tomorrow night :) Shall I bring the Mangoes???

Hey, you still managed 7 miles. And blame it on the weather. Incidentally, we have a north wind and rain here too right now.

Tacos sound good. I'm hungry. I want the fatty ones.

You probably meant Australia, but you are welcome to join for dinner :D

You will get your revenge on the run after your good breakfast next time! I HATE wind.

The weather this time of the year really does make you crazy when you're trying to do serious work outside. It only makes you mentally stronger and more resolved to do your best when you can. Then if the weather is good, you push yourself knowing the window of lucky weather is small. Looking at the big picture-- any time spent outside, is better than time required inside, that's what I say. Have a good day. Enjoy whatever goes with Mangoes (yummy).

Sorry about the sucky run. However, the sucky ones make the great runs all that much better. Hang in there.
