1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Yea!  A new record for weekly mileage at 34!   We'll see if I can maintain my miles over the week of Christmas.  4 miles outside at 9:49 pace on ave.  No ill effects from my long run yesterday.

I ran in below-freezing weather for the first time since I started running again.  Humph on winter.  Actually, I didn't feel all that cold because I was in New Mexico at my parents' house, and my Mom loaded me up with approximately 500 layers of clothing, 498 of which ended up tied around my waist by the end of the run.  So, the entertainment for the run today was light jacket wrangling.   I really need to learn to tie a square knot, or something.

Lybi, a very good indication of how much your conditioning has improved with two 10 milers close together and your recovery to run 4 miles the next day. It has been fun to watch you and some of the other bloggers improve so much. By the way, me and Sylvie did the Striders half last year and are signed up this year. Bring both warm and cold weather gear, the race starts on the road to Monte Cristo and can be cold. (P.S. I am convinced James will break three hours. He has the drive to run with the big boys, Sasha, MonaFlash, ect.)

Stay cool, B of BS Rools out

Nice job on the mileage PR for the week. You have been running great...Strider's should be a fun race for you. Keep up the great workouts and have a Merry Christmas.

Lybi, I have a confession to make!!! I have made mountains out of mole hills... I just feel like I run in mountainous terrain daily, but it's really not bad and to the average onlooker quite flat! So don't give me that much credit, I don't deserve it! I just hope the additional three miles on the end doesn't kick my rear!!! I hope to do a few more of those before Jan. 17th!!!

From Lybi on Sun, Dec 23, 2007 at 22:14:26

Whatever Michelle! Mountains are in the eye of the fast running blogger. I say, if it goes up, it's a mountain. You deserve every single one of those commando points. And your rear is safe from kicking, if you ask me.

Jeff--thanks for checking in! It is always a treat to get a nice comment from a super-human fast person who used to have a very intimidating blog picture, but is actually very nice. And I am thinking group run the Friday before PF Changs. James & you, and Shauna & me. Do you know anyone else who is doing Changs? Is your son a runner?

Brent--AWESOME that you are doing Striders. See you there!

From Michelle on Sun, Dec 23, 2007 at 22:48:50

Oh BTW, I haven't sighned up for either...Striders or Painters, do I need too? Or can we sign up race day!

From Shauna on Mon, Dec 24, 2007 at 00:44:54

I am up for a pre-PF Chang's run on Friday! My best friend and her family fly in that night at 10:30 pm, so she will miss out, but I would love to join you, and whoever else!

From Lybi on Mon, Dec 24, 2007 at 16:16:43

Michelle--you can sign up and pay online for Painters at active.com. I was surprised that it is only $35. Pretty affordable for a half marathon. So I am all signed up. You can probably sign up on race day, though.

Shauna--Jeff (jtshad) is staying in Fountain Hills. Do you know where that is? Any possibly ideas for running locales? I would be fine with doing Tempe Town lake again if it is convenient.

From Kim on Mon, Dec 24, 2007 at 16:23:32

I think I noticed that there is no race day sign up. You have until the day before if I remember correctly.

Lybi, Merry Christmas to you and your family. It has been much fun blogging, laughing and sharing goofy running times.

Take Care and have the bestest of Holidays.

Oh My! I'm just catching up on your last few days. Excellent job on the long run AND weekly mileage! Way to go!!! Hope you're having a ton of fun in New Mexico w/ the "fam"!

From Jody on Mon, Dec 24, 2007 at 21:59:53

Merry Christmas!! You are doing fantastic! Enjoy your vacation with your family!

From Michelle on Tue, Dec 25, 2007 at 17:55:13

Hope your having a very merrrry Christmas!!

From Shauna on Wed, Dec 26, 2007 at 15:07:02

Fountain Hills is WAY far! It is about 30 miles east of north/central Scottsdale. What time do you want to run? Tempe Town Lake works for me if it's not too dark out. We can figure it out as the time gets closer.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
