1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Oh!  Only 2 more days and 10 more miles and I will finally reach my mileage goal of 30, after trying and failing twice.  I'm gonna make it this time.  I can FEEL it!!!

So I am toying with the idea of eating a whole avocado right before I run tomorrow and seeing if it makes me yak.   Sasha says because it is "natural" and a vegetable source, I should be fine (trust me--he probably won't like that quote--but still).  Eating a whole avocado at once is not very natural behavior, so no points against Sasha science if I toss it.  But anyway, I'll need encouragement to try it--probably at least 5 comments.   And feel free to tell me NOT  to do it, because I hate yakking.

Wow, possible upchucking green stuff while on the run. You are a real runner, anything will be attempted for improvement. On the more serious side, moderation in change? Congrads on your dedication, the girl power of the blog is taking over. Go girls.

Syvlia suggested I sleep with the vacuum and make friends, ha ha.

From Lybi on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 15:40:25

So that is a "no" vote, right? Sylvia won't care if you hate the vacuum as long as you do the dishes once in a while, I predict.

From Mik'L on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 15:41:25

Why are you doing this? Did I miss that? I love avacados, but I wouldn't eat an entire one right before I ran. But then again, I don't usually eat anything before I run. You are TOTALLY going to make your mileage goal too!

From Michelle on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 15:46:56

I agree with Mik'L, I love avacodos but usually hate things that I throw up for several months to come so I would be reluctant to risk hating the avacodo in the fututre. But then on the other hand you would be moving closer to a scientific question that needs answering? What to do....?

From Lulu on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 16:18:33

I vote that you eat the green stuff. I don't think you will yak. I hate throwing up too. I have three avocados on my counter right now. If you do it, I will, right before my 17 miler. That said, I can eat anything right before a run. In fact, I have been known to eat my entire breakfast or a giant bagel turkey sandwich during the first mile of a run if I am running a bit late.

From Lybi on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 16:43:17

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Lulu you are something else! Hahahaha! Love it.

From Heber on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 16:56:34

Slice up the avocado and eat it on toast with slices of tomato. I like to sprinkle some italian dressing on for taste.

From Kim on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 17:40:43

I'm with Mik'L, why do you want to try this experiment? I would be on the no vote! It seems to me that it could be a very ugly picture at some point! :D

From James W on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 17:42:28

I know you are just waiting for this . . .

DON'T DO IT! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

If you yak, I am going to make sure we have something with avocado in it every night the next week for dinner . . . J/K!

From Brent on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 17:57:22

Lybi, if you try this feat, we need it recorded. Have James follow you with the camera so we can catch the upchucking for a nice blog picture or you can be written up in some running science journal if no upchuck. But, no commando points will be awarded for either result.

From Lybi on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 22:39:09

Ok. I won't do it! James cut up the one avocado we had and put it in a pasta salad anyway. It was delicious!

From laura on Thu, Nov 08, 2007 at 23:30:05

Hahahaha! Lybi, you're a hoot. Only you would put a yak session up for a vote! ;oP

Great job on your mileage! Get out there, chiquita, and kick some ... blacktop!

From Christi on Fri, Nov 09, 2007 at 01:06:29

Wow- don't check the blog for a day and look at what I miss! All this healthy food talk is making me sick! LOL! Just kidding. I need everyone's good influence on me in this department. Look, I ran on a tummy full of pizza the other night, so I think you'd be OK w/ the avocado...BTW- I noticed your mileage is creeping up well over the 5 mile daily mark, before you know it you'll be up to 5.5, then 6, etc etc... WAY TO GO!!!!

From Lulu on Fri, Nov 09, 2007 at 11:51:09

You are lucky I don't live near you. I would drop one of my avocados at your house. Then there is also the grocery store ...

Good job on your running!

From Lybi on Fri, Nov 09, 2007 at 15:52:10

Hahaha! Science will have to wait, Lulu.

And thanks for the encouragement about my running everyone!
