Prs:

1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Oh boy.  I simultaneously broke my record for longest run since I was a teenager AND longest continuous run with a double jogging stroller.  11:06 ave. pace.  Splits of 11:52, 11:10, 11:17, 11:14, 11:24, 11:01, 10:11, and 9:46 pace for the .32.  The first mile I was wrangling my crazy but lovable dog Sparky--that slowed me down a lot.  The last 2 miles felt the best.  I was all excited that I was breaking my record.  The very end seemed like an all out sprint to me!  The stroller adds at least a min. per mile to my time, so I feel really good about this run.  I must say that the weather was PERFECT, the course was flat, and I only had ONE 40 pound kid in the stroller instead of the usual two.

Now if you'll all excuse me I need to go lay around and be useless as much as possible before my piano students arrive.

Congrats!! Pushing a double stroller!

I am in awe...

From MIchelle on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 18:18:23

I second Jodi! Truley borderine crazy too!! (in a good way!) You are getting better and better!

From marci on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 19:43:13

nice run!!! and i thought pushing a 20 pound kid in a single stroller was hard.

From Bethany on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 22:59:51

You scheduling a "gun show" anytime soon? I bet your biceps are showing all that pushing!

From Bethany on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:00:21

Okay, that was a nerdy comment. But awesome job anyway!

From Lybi on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:09:58

Marci--pushing a stroller is always hard, no matter how light the kid is--just having to push and not being able to swing your arms. However, on the uphills, heavy kids equal and HUGE workout.

Bethany--unfortunately my "guns" are encased in...well, they're encased. So there is not much to see just yet. Hope that changes as my mileage goes up.

From Lybi on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:10:52

I meant to say, "heavy kids=HUGE workout."

From sarah on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:29:20

Fabulous picture..I LOVE IT!! Especially the look on your faces...I'll take some interpretation license and hopefully not get in too much trouble. James looks like he just LOVES the hot babe in the picture with him..and the hot babe..she knows she's the hot babe...sorry..but hope that gives you a laugh!! I'm in awe also about the baby jogger run. Will you push me next time?

From crumpyb1 on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:32:41

Amazing, Lybi! Congratulations on a new long run record. Don't you feel incredibly powerful? If you don't... well, you should.

From crumpyb1 on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:33:34

Sarah, you are so funny.

From Lybi on Tue, Dec 04, 2007 at 23:51:05

Actually, that picture was taken at my friend Shae's house, and I was most likely thinking, at the time of this picture. "I wonder what the kids are doing right now. Hopefully not knocking down the Christmas tree in the other room." Look at my face and you'll see it's true.

From laura on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 00:11:51

SEVEN miles with a JOGGING stroller, Lybi!!! Talk about "stepping" your exercise routine up a notch (or seven)! You crazy lady - that's awesome.

Ha, ha. I have to agree with Sarah on what's going on in your mind. I've seen the fear of "what are my boys doing" in your eyes before and you definitely look more relaxed - and hot!

From Shauna on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 00:15:31

Yes, great picture and great run! You're awesome!

From sarah on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 08:04:26

I totally believe you Lybi but I KNOW that's what James is thinking....you can see he loves you...it's so cute.

From James on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 10:11:01

Nice job on the long run. I am surprised that BS hasn't awarded you some of those commando points yet!

From Christi on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 14:05:12

You're AMAZING!! Remind me which of the little guys that one is in the pic??

From Lybi on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 15:14:10

Christi--that is my little 5 year-old, Joey. He's a charmer.

From Stacy on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 20:14:18

Awesome job today! One of these days I'll get up to 7 miles at a time, but for now I'm going to just shoot for 3 miles without stopping. We'll see.
