Prs:

1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

5 Miles all at once, for a change.  Probably the best 5 miler of my life--49:17 (ave. pace 9:51).  Did not have a single mile above 9:55.  Christine made the difference.   This is the first Sat. run she has been able to do with me.  It is so much easier to keep a steady pace when I run with her!  Plus the time just flies by while we talk.  I think we scared off one guy who was going about our pace by discussing the *ahem* details of our labor stories.  He he he.  Another one bites the dust...

Way to have a ROCK"IN run today!!! A fiver with an awesome pace !!!! So does that mean you scared him off or did you actually CHICK him??

From Lybi on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 16:41:20

I think we made him alter his course--but we would've chicked him, we were going slightly faster. Either way we out-toughed him. Labor is not for sissies.

From Michelle on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 17:04:10

I say chalk that up to an offical CHICK point for you!!

From Cody on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 18:51:34

Whatever! I am not discounting the pains of labor, but I am disagreeing on the chick count. Grossing a guy out so that he has to find a bathroom to lose his lunch (a plausible explaination for changing course) doesn't count. Innocent until proven guilty!

I am impressed with the run though...

From Lybi on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 19:46:42

Better be careful or I'll sic La Leche League on you, Cody. :)

Actually, we weren't really getting into gross stuff. We were mostly talking about our amazing babies, afterall. (Adam almost died!) Much more likely the guy didn't want to have to let us pass him. Manly pride and all...I'm sure YOU would understand! He he he. It really is a pity you're so stinkin' fast. I'll probably never get to chick you--unless you happen to break BOTH legs and an arm or something.

From Mik'L on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 22:41:10

Good job Lybi! Just when I was feelin good about my pace you go and kick my butt of course! Now we all HAVE to hear the story about Adam...

From Mik'L on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 22:51:15

BTW, check out Paul's blog today and see your awesome sign and your screamin self in the background of the pic! :)

From Lybi on Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 23:48:08

Mik'L I'll tell you the whole story about Adam when I see you in 2 weeks! Yea!

Sasha has officially designed the girls racing shirts. Instead of "You just got chicked" it's going to say "Don't get chicked" to at least give the poor guy some hope that he can catch one of us and pass us back. You know...Sasha wants to advertise for the blog in a positive (but fun) way. BTW you are totally inspiring me to run faster again. I slowed way down since I've been getting up at 5:45 to run with Amanda...we are both just sleepy and I've noticed when I talk I want to run slower.

Sorry this is long but I thought I'd share with you this hilarious talk on just read from Elder Ballard. He mentions the demands of motherhood and commented on how someone suggested a survival show for men. Drop them on an island with four kids each-soccer games, music lessons, no fast food...gets vote out those doing a lousy job...i think there are other ways for us to "chick" a man!!

From Heber on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 10:21:26

Congrats on the first Saturday long run! During the winter if you keep extending that long run you'll be in awesome shape by spring!

From Brent on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 13:08:03

Lybi, you have cranked up the running a few notches, great effort. Hawaii was better than great, what a good time to be with my spouse and kids.

From Christi on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 13:21:17

Hey Lybi- I'm just catching up on the weekend blog. NICE RUN! That's a great pace for 5! Sarah- how do we get our hands on these shirts that Sasha designed?

From heather on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 16:06:55

Hi gals,

Re the women's t-shirts: I guess I don't get the slogan. Is the point to inspire men to run faster b/c they don't want to get beat by a, gasp, girl? I like the "you just got chicked" better. It's funny and it's about the woman running, not the guy who can't catch her.

From Lybi on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 16:11:50

Thanks everybody! It is amazingly satisfying when people notice a good run. I'm getting all excited about running longer now.

Sarah, that's amazing to me that you feel inspired by me--I am inspired by YOU and your consistency!

Welcome back Brent! Isn't it great to see all these new people? Bunch of running widows just got started--Kim, Stacy, Bethany, & Marci. Plus we just got this super human beast Sean. I saw him come in at St. George (3rd). He closed like a freight train! Very fun. Plus lots of others!

From Lulu on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 16:17:26

Good job. Keep up the miles and smiles!

From Lybi on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 16:18:08

I just saw Heather's comment. Maybe we could soften the blow to the man by putting a picture of a fluffy yellow chick with "You just got chicked." He he he. Sasha has a say, though, since he's the guy who invented the blog, and it's kind of his brand, or whatever.

One thing I need to clarify is that I know nothing about making shirts! I hope I'm not in charge of it! But if shirts ARE going to be made, I hope they end up being girl-shaped running shirts. I hate looking like a guy!

From sarah on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 18:33:11

Sasha says the shirts will be ready in a couple of weeks. The girls shirt is already "Don't get chicked" I told Sasha that I liked the other one too but he really wants the guy to keep trying and not give up...I guess guys aren't officially chicked until the end of the race anyway. And he figures if the guy a fastrunningblog girl passes comes up to the girl that's threatening to chick him it will be better advertising than just leaving the poor fellow in the dust...maybe he'll join too.

From sarah on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 18:35:43

Steve Hooper is in charge of making the shirts...fluffy yellow chicks is a great idea but like I said I think the first version of the shirts anyway is already in the works...

From Lybi on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 19:24:21

Oooo! I'm excited about the shirts. They'll be great! Encouraging people (guys) to do their best is a good thing too. Just as long as we don't have to let them pass us, I'm in.

Steve is the man! I'll bet they turn out fabulous.
