1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2 BF miles this morning outside. I forgot to set my alarm last night, so I slept in until 7:00 (which means I got 10 (!) hours of sleep last night! It was absolutely heavenly. The bad side was that I had to face a little more heat than usual because of the lateness of the hour.

I started out at 10:40 pace, and gradually increased the pace until I was going quite fast at the end. My average pace for the run was 9:05. It was a nice invigorating run. Then I took the boys to the library and the Phoenix Science Center for the rest of the day. Fun times!

Nice job enduring the heat! I need to take some sleeping lessons from you. I have not had a night more than 6 for weeks!

Lybi, I thought about you and James today when Sylvie had the idea. It would not be the same without you two.

Lybi, when are you coming to Utah? Are you coming up to the SLC area? The date of the fun run is not set, thinking about the sat. before St. George of some time after St. George.

What are BF miles? On a track trip in high school I saw this huge monarch butterfly. So naturally I took my shirt off and chased it down. (Shirts are a good substitute for butterfly nets.) My coaches started calling me BF. I wasn't sure at first what they meant by that. Of course they meant butterfly, but I thought maybe they meant bologna fart. So they made me come up with 100 words that started with BF. I did it (best friends, breast feeding, back flip, butter fingers, belly flop, etc.) So I can think of a lot of words that start with BF, but out of the 100, none of them fit the context of your sentence.

Jody, how can you survive on so little sleep!

Brent, we are only coming up to St. George, and just for the race. My next trip to Utah after that will probably be next June, and we'll be up around Salt Lake City. So in other words, don't hold up the BBQ plans on my account! :( But you better blog it well--I want to know details!

Butterflyman--BF stands for "barefoot," or "barefooted," depending on how picky you want to be about grammar. You made me laugh, you rogue entomologist!

....ah. And now I have 101.
