Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Yea!  James finally came home!!!  Unfortunately he is sicker than 2 pigs.

2 Miles on the treadmill.  I watched my 2 favorite parts of High School Musical the whole time.   It's these two songs:  "The Start of Something New" and "Breaking Free".  Both of them are so appropriate for how I feel about running right now.  You should all watch High School Musical.  The first time you see it you think "Hmmm.  That was cute. Very clean.  Good Choreography."  The second time you see it, you think "Wow.  This makes me want to sing."  The third time you watch it you think "I'VE GOT TO GET THE SOUNDTRACK!!!!  I NEED THE KARAOKE VERSION SO I CAN SHOUT THE SONGS AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS!"  The only bad thing about it is that it is so popular.  I hate things that EVERYBODY likes, in general.

Don't bother leaving a comment that High School Musical is corny because you are WRONG!  If you think that, it's only because you haven't watched it enough times yet.  Either that or you are tone-deaf.  It happens.

I love musicals, love to sing along, but no one thinks a should. Fiddler on the roof and paint your wagon. Your positive attitude is contagious.

Sick as two pigs? How are you doing on your goal of 15 miles this week? Keep up the good work. What is your next race? Have you got it picked on your calendar?

Anybody who doesn't want you to sing just needs to hear more of you! Sing out, brother.

SickER than two pigs. This is a phrase my Spanish teacher in high school for anything notable. It must have started out with "fatter than 2 pigs".

Saturday I will run 2 easy miles and reach my goal of 15 for the week. No problem! My next race is a 5k on the last weekend in May--2 weeks away. AAAAAh! I'm a little nervous. Sasha said to try for under 30 minutes. My goal is just to run hard enough that I have to puke when I'm done. Apparently that is a good indicator of effort.

I just read this and it cracked me up! Your blog always makes me smile. I've only seen High School Musical 2x. First time tolerated it with the kids and thought it was a cute kid show. The second time I was singing along. I'm hooked too, looking foward to part 2! (You have given me the courage to come out of the closet with this- hee hee)...
