Prs:

1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

We got home from NC last night at 1:30 am(!)  Good to be back, and nice to have some down time with the fam. before jumping back into our normal routine.  Here are some quick stats about our North Carolina trip:

No. of days I ran-5 (100%)

No. of hills that kicked my butt while we were there: 1,826,927 (estimate)

No. of pounds gained: 3 (blush!)

No. of falling leaves I caught in my hand while running-1

Ave. pace slow down due to very steep rolling hills-1 min. a mile

How many times more beautiful the Autumn leaves are in NC compared to Arizona-8 (at least)

Number of HUMONGOUS falling tree limbs that almost squashed me during a nature walk-1

Well, I had a GREAT run today!!!  I wanted to duplicate that great runner's high I got last Sat., so I did the same basic stats--5 miles slow and then a tempo mile.  All without any kind of refueling or rest stops.

Mile splits: 10:08 (headwind), 9:54, 9:38 (tailwind), 9:32 (tailwind), 10:09, and (here is the mile I am really proud of) 7:51.  That's 29 seconds faster than my tempo mile last week!  Yipee!  I think I could have cranked out at least one more sub 9:00 mile.  I feel fine right now.  I'm super stoked that I still had gas in the tank after 5 miles.  5 used to completely wipe me out.  Progress feels good.   As an added bonus, I had a perfect mileage week at 30 during a trip.  Take that, Ashman!  How could you doubt? :)

I'm going to get a foul for excessive celebration one of these days...

P.S.  BYU RULES!

Commando points, 10 for running every day while on a trip and 5 for fast happy feet. Your consistency is really showing. Good Work. Did you wonder how the Cival War was fought back in that area, you can't see more than 100 yards ahead because of all the rolling hills.

Way to get out and run while away from home. I always find it hard to get out and run while on a trip. Excellent job on the tempo!

Good job Lybi! I'm still trying to find the energy to get out today :( Good job running all week and way to go on the quick tempo mile!

I bet that 3 pounds comes off in less than a half a week. I think it is from the flight, ie. H2O retention. Remember, I am the Queen of Retention right now. Don't stress about that. Good job running, Girl!

3 lbs? Me too! Yes- BYU DOES RULE! EXCELLENT job keeping up your miles this week! My mind took a glutinous vacation and shopped & slept all week! I'm still jealous that you went to NC- I was there last April and can't wait to go back. I secretly hope that's where Jim gets into grad school. Anyway- I'm curious to see what Mik'l puts in her Dixie Salad. The friendly lady in line at Walmart told me: fresh whipped cream, bananas, walnuts, mini marshmallows, pomagranate seeds, apples. I had no idea how much of each to throw in or how much or what she used to sweeten the whipped cream. It was OK- I don't think I did it justice and I'd like to try it again next year w/ a real recipe.

Brent, I have to admit the Civil War never crossed my mind while I was there. What the heck is wrong with me?

Daniel and Mik'L, thanks for the boost!

Lulu, you always know what to say to make me smile! I hope you are right. Just water. The chocolate and stuffing and gravy and pie and ice cream and[various goodies here]...have nothing to do with it!

Christi, you are right! NC is GORGEOUS! Amazing color this time of year. Nice weather, nice landscape. That "salad" sounds too good to actually be a salad. Basically anything with whipped cream in it is yummy, I've found. And recipes are so over-rated. First, you have to walk way over to get it, then you have to keep looking at it and measuring. Bah! Give me a good experiment anytime. :)
