My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Slept in today.  Ahhhhhhh.  All I can say is that I love my pillowtop!  3 miles on the treadmill, nice and easy.  1 mile at 5 mph, 1 at 5.3 and one mostly at 5.5.  Feel great now.

I wonder if I'm going to show any improvement in my next race (5K on July 4th).  I don't feel like I am pushing myself.  Well, I am trying to build up a base and avoid injury.  *Sigh*

I had so much fun this morning swimming laps (in a play pool) with my kids.  They took turns riding on my back (I was doing breast-stroke) like I was a sea monster.  Good times.  I feel like I have a lot more energy in general since I started running.

I agree, be careful of injuries, build up slow. Just a couple of weeks ago I asked a guy if he was Tony Stewart, race car driver, it is embarassing. My advice on the 4th of July 5k, do the same as your last race, effort is what counts. Never punish yourself for time, only lack of effort. My race saturday comes with a ticket to the utah arts festival. Interesting people watching. by the way, I noticed that your goal is 25 miles a week by the end of summer. Maybe you should consider a longer run every other week to build up your base. B of BS Rools out

I got up at 4am this morning to run 10.4 and thought of you & your early morning(s). It really wasn't bad, felt the same as 5am. I'm sure I'll crash hard later today though! So I see you're training for a July 4th 5k, Fun! I'm thinking about doing one too, but can't get anyone to do it with me. Whaaah...
