1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Nice and easy 5K with Christine in 31:50 (10:15 pace).   Very steady splits 10:15, 10:14, 10:19, and 1 minute for the .1.  We got to see the International Space Station glide across the sky at 5:40.  It looked like a star except it was a little bit oblong and it was moving pretty fast.  Kerry tipped us off, so James and I were both watching for it this morning. If any of you like astronomy, you should check out Kerry's blog.  He often has cool stuff on there about stars and other celestial sights.

Run. Blog. Improve. Repeat.  Cute, huh?  How appropriate.  I like it.

Later I ran my son to school, .63 of a mile

PM 2 miles with Holly nice & easy.  We talked about Jane Austin the whole time.

So are you going to run a 5k soon? If so what time are you aiming for?

From Lybi on Thu, Sep 27, 2007 at 14:41:34

I think I'm actually going to run a 5K this Sat. I would really like to break 26 min. Absolutely must be faster than 27:03. What about you? Running season! Any big races this year?

From Heber on Thu, Sep 27, 2007 at 18:13:12

None scheduled. My pneumonia set me back a long ways. Just struggling back now. Won't be ready for races until Halloween.

If you are aiming for 26 or 27 have you done any mile repeats at 8:25 to 8:45? That's what will get you ready. Too late now of course but if you don't reach your goal or you experience any soreness afterward then try it next time. Goal pace repeats: live it, love it.

What? I didn't even know you had pneumonia! It takes a while to recover from something like that. Were you hospitalized?

Mile repeats, hmmm. I did a few a few weeks ago. So soredom, here I come, I guess.

Mom said you ran a marathon recently...true?

From christi on Thu, Sep 27, 2007 at 21:59:20

Lybi- I think you'll break 26 this Sat- GO FOR IT! Esp. if its cooled down there lately, you'll probably thrill yourself with your time compared to your last HOT 5k. I'm so impressed with how quickly you have improved your pace on the recent training runs!

Not hospitalized. Didn't know it was pneumonia until it had been going on for two weeks. Dr gave me antibiotics and methylprednisone and an inhaler like asmatics use. The prednisone really did the trick in stopping the coughing but the side effects are no good. Had trouble sleeping all that week.

Lybi...way to do the miles!!! I am also SUPER excited to see you at St. George. I didn't know Jacob even had a fever...he'd been acting pretty much normal and then BAM started in on the weird breathing..I actually thought about your little boy having the penny stuck in his throat and kind of wondered if he swallowed something...asthma attack...didn't know. I'll have my kids practice for you and we'll see if they can play something for you. Thanks!!
