Prs:

1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

I got a babysitter so I could go out and do 6 during the nice warm day. But I felt really yucky. I feel a tiny bit sick--congested and so forth, but not really sick. I just couldn't do more today, which is freaking me out a little since I am to run a half marathon in less than a month! AHHHHH!

Kudos to Brent who showed the kind of guts yesterday that I think is really rare.

And Kudos to Sasha, who is one determined musician.

And Kudos to anyone who can run 10 miles and call it easy.

And Kudos to anyone who is just getting started, because that's the hardest part.

3 more miles tonight on the treadmill.  Last mile using the 2.0 incline setting on my treadmill (whatever that means).

So, did you decide to do Painters? Good luck! I'm thinking about possibly doing the SLC in April, but we'll see what life has planned. Hope you feel better soon!

From Christi on Wed, Dec 19, 2007 at 13:43:42

KUDOS to you!!! You'll do great at Painter's!(don't panic) I'm stoked to see you next month!! After Christmas we have to finalize the party plans!

From Brent on Wed, Dec 19, 2007 at 19:39:35

Lybi, I forgot, thanks for the commando points, 264 hum, crazy number for a crazy run. Hope you feel better.

If I may offer a thought for the Painter's Half, walk the water stops, it will be tough, but you will finish just fine. Also, don't go out too fast, no need on your fist half. Hopefully, you will have a group to pace with.

Stay Cool, B of BS Rools out

Great job getting out there today. They do not always go as planned. You'll be ready for Painters - you are more than half way there already!!

From James on Wed, Dec 19, 2007 at 22:41:46

I got my wife ready for TOU half in one month and the farthest she had ever run was 4 miles before that. You have been running a long time and should have no problems making the distance. I bet you will even beat some of your buddies.

From Lybi on Wed, Dec 19, 2007 at 22:47:19

What? Really! James James James--tell me what to do, I'll do anything! I'm so afraid of falling on my face. You must help me!

From Michelle on Wed, Dec 19, 2007 at 22:49:18

I like the advice you are getting, it's bringing up my confidence, maybe this can be done!!!

From James on Wed, Dec 19, 2007 at 23:08:57

Well it depends on your goal. If you are trying to run a blazing time that is different than just running a comfortable pace and finishing. If you can run 10 miles, you can easily finish. Infact, if you can run 10 miles comfortably you could make 26.2, with alot of pain, but still finish. Remember that when you get in a race with some friends that the miles will click by and it won't be that bad.

From James W on Thu, Dec 20, 2007 at 01:02:00

I think confidence is a big part of being able to do well in a race - knowing you can do it helps tremendously. And like James said, if you are running with friends, the miles will click by. You are all going to do great at Painters! Maybe we can put together a FRB chicas sign, like the one Lybi had for the FRB'ers at St. George :)

I am so excited to meet you at Painters. I am so happy you all decided to run it and you will do great! Good luck on your training, although I know you dont need it.

From Lybi on Thu, Dec 20, 2007 at 20:21:42

Are you kidding, MarcieJ? I need all the help I can get! I'm half tempted to fly to Ireland just so I can kiss the Blarney Stone before the race.

But I am so excited to meet you too! It's going to be fun...and painful.
