My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Good start to the week.  5 miles outside.  I haven't attempted 5 for several weeks.  It felt . . . (groan) pretty good.  I'm a little tired.  We'll have to see if I fizzle out before the day is over.  Not like brushing my teeth yet, but not as hard as running 1 mile was in the beginning.

I saw that Great Blue Heron again.  He let me get so close to him!  10 feet max.  Very cool.   He is so huge!

Libia,

Your getting better all the time. I am impressed with your commitment. From my observation and looking at your progress. You’re going to be reaching your goals very soon.

Way to go honey! 5 miles is definitely a good start to the week. Wish I could run today, but I am sidelined with the strep throat. I agree, you are absolutely on track to reach your goals. Love ya!

Good for you. What'd you use for music?

Wanted to recommend a book: The Runners' Repair Manual by Murray Weisenfeld. Author's quite expert and engaging, and it's really helpful for figuring out the exact body parts causing various aches and pains (and whether you need to do anything about them or just mope).

You usually find a Wolof sorcerer in Senegal, but I met mine in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she was in graduate school. Mangos, incidentally, are great post-running food.

Lybi, you're charging ahead full steam! 5 miles in a single run is very good. If you keep it up, you'll have to pick new goals pretty soon! Just be careful and don't increase mileage too quickly. Oh, and stay away from James with his strep throat (hope you feel better soon, James!).
