1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

Christine and I set another record for a non-race 5K today: 30:38 (9:53 pace).  We were surprised because we were both feeling really tired at the start of the run.

I think yesterday's very blah run might have been caused by feeling sad about piano.  The night before I had told my piano teacher (who is AMAZING) that I needed to stop taking lessons for now.  I really just need more time with my family in the evenings.  I know it had to be done, but it was hard.

PM I'm just leaving to run 2 more miles with Holly and hopefully Paige.

You go girl! It is amazing what getting up and running can do for us. I think you are starting to speed up because your fitness is continuing to improve. You are doing a great job, keep it up.

From Lybi on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 10:48:13

Thanks, James! I think I am speeding up because I don't want to embarrass myself in front of Christine. What's the difference...health, ego, health, ego...

From Kristina on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 14:18:09

Yes Lybi, you are amazing. Here you are getting better and better and I'm getting worse and worse. You are so inspiring! :p Anyway, I'm glad you are doing so well but if you ever move here (which I still think you should) then I've got a lot of catching up to do before then. :)

From Michelle on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 15:16:50

Lybi !!! Look at you go! Just think what you will do under the pressure of a race! Look out!!

Sorry about the piano, that I'm sure is a difficult thing to decide. But remember to evey thing there is a season, and seasons do come and go. (Usually faster than we think! So just enjoy those little ones for now!)

From Tom on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 15:20:40

Congrats on the non-race record! Also sorry about the piano lessons. I play the piano also (not very good though) and look forward to the day when I have time to take lessons again and put in decent practice hours. I haven't taken since college days and don't know that I will have time until I'm near retirement age. I think it's great you teach lessons though, I tried teaching my boys for a little while but I was pretty lousy at it. Thankfully there are some great teachers in our area who have been able to undo any damage I may have inflicted!

Thanks for the idea about the longer runs...I think you've hit on something. I was freaking out about it but I guess I'll just take raisins with me and be grateful that my legs work. I have oh so much sympathy for not being able to take lessons from an Amazing person....I was taking organ lessons from one of the best organist in the country(who happens to be in my ward and listen to every single release that I don't get perfectly)...but I told her it wasn't working out because I simply can't consistently find the time to practice and make the lessons worth her time.

From Lybi on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 23:35:56

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Tom, I hope you are able to find time to take lessons again, if that's what you want. You know, Sasha practices the piano every single day!

Michelle, you are totally right, this stage with my little ones is very fleeting. Thanks for the validation.

Kristina, please don't be hard on yourself. You should have seen me after Sam was born. I did nothing but eat and nurse for 6 months at least!

Sarah, you do so much. I'm glad you don't have that pressure anymore! May all your appliances be healed quickly, too.

From Clay on Fri, Sep 21, 2007 at 16:47:08

Lybi, you are out of control girl. It is amazing how running can energize you and make you feel so much more alive, you are really increasing your fitness level. It also helps to get the rest that you and James have been getting, and also eating healthier, I am really proud of both of you.

Oh ya, go easy on James today where its his Birthday!!!

Keep up the awesome work!
