1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

5K with Christine in 30:49.  Average pace 9:57.  This is the fastest 5K training run I've done in the last couple of months.  I loved it!  The amazing thing is that I was really really dragging when I first got up--the kind of day that could convince one not to run.  But once we got started, I really had a great run.  I can honestly say I felt better after the run than before it, and to me that is just a miracle!

Ooh, I just checked, this is the record for the fastest non-race 5K since I started running again.  And it felt really comfortable.    I kind of wished I had taken off just 6 more seconds, though, so I could beat Paul Peterson's best time for the 10K.  Maybe tomorrow.

And one more thing.  When I got up this morning feeling like a corpse, I decided that I was going to dedicate this morning's run to all those zillions of bloggers who are sick or injured right now.  So that helped get the lead out.   Hang in there, everybody!

Later that night... 2 more miles in the pm with Holly.  She set a new record for the mile, so that was fun.  PLUS she seriously made me run fast for the last little bit.  I still say that she has a lot of natural speed, and she's not afraid to use it!

Hang in there is right!!! I hate this dumb hip (and knees, actually). I limped around the house for FOUR days this week; and the first day, Mike had to keep getting things for me. Ugh.

Great 5K time, Lib! Amazing to me that your race was almost 2 1/2 minutes faster. That competitive fire must burn pretty bright when you race - especially when they scare you to death with a GUN at the starting line! hee, hee.

Thanks for the thought Lybi, it was inspiring. I will be pulling out of SGM this week, its a medial stress fracture but I have been given the green light for the elliptical glider so I am real excited about that... Its going to be a long 6 to 8 weeks, if you know what I mean!! Happy running.

From James in Sunny AZ on Thu, Sep 06, 2007 at 20:03:27

Way to go Libster! You didn't look tired at all this morning, either.

Clay, bad news on the stress fracture, but at least now you know, and you can keep up your fitness on the elliptical. Hang tough, it will be over soon.

From Lybi on Thu, Sep 06, 2007 at 22:53:49

James, I doubt you could see me through your closed eyelids, buddy.

Clay, I'm so very sorry about the stress fracture. The elliptical is your friend! You'll be in great shape to run when your time is up. Way to stay positive!

Lybi, you have inspired me--Dedicating your runs. BRILLIANT! I look forward to dedicating my run tomorrow.

My first quarter today was 2:26, and I was the one dragging the group down. My last one was nearly twice as fast - 1:23, and it felt a lot easier than the first. See training mistake #7 on the list of training mistakes above. You should never judge your condition until you have given yourself a chance to properly warm up.

Got it, coach!

From Ruth on Fri, Sep 07, 2007 at 01:04:02

Whether or not it was aimed at me, I'll take some of that support of yours for injured runners. I've got a strained hamstring with some hamstring tendinitis to boot, so my xc season just took a nosedive. Thanks!

Great job on your new accomplishments - you have such a great attitude, I wish mine was more like it! Way to be!

From Christi on Fri, Sep 07, 2007 at 09:31:56

Hey Lybi- Sounds like you've got yourself some GREAT running partners!! Don't they make all the difference?! Are you signed up for an upcoming race? If not- you should sign up! That was really sweet to mention the injured runners- Clay, Laura, Ruth & anyone else out there who's waiting out an injury- best wishes!

From Lybi on Fri, Sep 07, 2007 at 11:20:01

Ya Ruth, that was totally aimed at you too! I know how much you love running, so I can imagine the difficulty of having to wait out the healing stuff. You're gonna have a great comeback, though!

From Michelle on Fri, Sep 07, 2007 at 12:33:06

Oh my GOSH Lybi!!! You have really found your energy reserves or something!!! You GO !!!!! Those running partners you are hooking up with are really working well for all of you, if you keep up this speed and distance your gonna be doing a marathon before you know what hit ya!!!!
