1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

3 Miles with the double jogger at a nice and easy (slug's) pace. My knee felt pretty good. I think I'm ready to get back to training as usual. I wanted to run a race this weekend, but I am not finding one that is not ridiculously far away or at a time I can go. But hopefully next weekend!

Another run with the jogging stroller after lunch just to help my little boy fall asleep for his nap.  It took 2.23 miles to get the job done.   Better than the 15-20 min. of driving I usually do!

I'm sure you're just feeling "off" from not running today. Don't be so hard on yourself- you're recovering after all... (I mean look at you in that pic, you could use some R & R!)j/k. You'll be back at it in no time (next time don't set the alarm!)

From Clay on Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 22:55:12

Lybi, we as runners tend to look to much at the short term as opposed to the long term. We run for the long term, and for a healthier life style so give yourelf a break and don't take it to seriously... Great Picture, it made me think of you crashing, in a caring way of course..

From Lybi on Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 23:00:06

This picture is a good representation of what is going to happen to me when I am in a rest home and still trying to get my 5 a day in.

By the way, Christi and Clay are responding to my Wed. entry, which I had accidentally put on Thurs.

From sarah on Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 23:31:43

Where did you find that picture you nut!! Check out Sasha's blog from Tuesday for a good laugh...

So sorry about the fall.

From steve ashbaker on Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 23:39:43

Thanks for the offer Lybi, but I have to decline and regale you and James another time. I also want to be at the top of my game when the circuit begins. Feel better soon so you can get back in the game. I like the med-alert pic. I can imagine us racing racing each other with our walkers at a FRB reunion! Corny I know, but possibly true knowing how hard core we are as runners on this blog eh?

From Lybi on Wed, Nov 28, 2007 at 23:46:13

Sarah--I almost fell out of my chair watching Sasha as an elf. His facial expression--although completely understandable at the end of a marathon--makes him look like one lewd elf. Tee-hee.

Steve, I'm sure Sasha and many others here will still be racing in their 90's, at least. Thank goodness for Depends, no more need for those time wasting VPB stops, eh?

From Lybi on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 11:16:36

Oh geez, I wish I could edit that last comment to say Sasha looks like one "ludicrous" elf. Got my words confused.

AND I would delete the part about the depends and VPB.

Nice work out and I'm glad your knee is doing better. It shows your dedication wanting to race this weekend. I have the same frustration trying to find a race that's not too far away.

From Shauna on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 12:21:24

Lybi, what about the 4-mile Luminaria Run this Saturday evening? Although, Cave Creek is probably quite a haul for you! I'm thinking about running it. i've never done that race before.

It's supposed to rain here all weekend (2-3 inches!). Great for the drought, but not the running!

From Lybi on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 15:27:50

Ya, I saw that run, Shauna. I would've done it if it was a 5K. I really like trying to beat my last time for 5K's.

I LOVE running in the rain! Bring it on.

From laura on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 18:52:39

I'm glad your knee was feeling good enough to get out today! I'm sorry you were bummed yesterday. You should've called me! I had Cami's IEP yesterday and was in a mood to complain! Three people called her "stubborn" with a smirk - in the middle of the IEP! Not nice, in my book.

From Michelle on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 19:19:42

Sounds like your "BOUNCING" back very well!! Just a little "BUMP" in the road.... You will be back to your speedy little self in no time!!!! ( You've really got me worried for Moab, I sure hope there is someone that I can keep up with to pass the miles with!) I think that it's running with that jogging stroller that is making you a super woman!!!

From Christi on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 21:06:38

Bravo! Back to the 5 miles! You go girl! Did you find a race to do? I signed up for a 5k next Sat Dec. 8th. That would be fun if we did one the same day to keep eachother in check!

From Bethany on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 22:59:47

Holy Comments Lybi! After reading this novel, I forgot what i was going to comment on! Oh yeah, good idea getting your boy to sleep on a run. Im thinking Jax needs a little engery release with the cold weather coming on, maybe I will tweak your method. Thanks!

From Kim on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 23:11:58

You've got to change your picture back, this one is starting to give me nightmares! (and if you ask Tom I don't need anything to help with that! Some of his sleep problems could stem from me and my crazy sleeping!) Way to get back up and get going again!

From Lybi on Thu, Nov 29, 2007 at 23:38:55

Ok ok, I changed my picture back. Might take a while for you guys to see it. I'm excited because we're getting pictures taken this Saturday. Hopefully I'll have a new picture to put up.

Christi! I love the idea of racing on Dec. 8th. Good luck on your race!

Thanks for noticing I got out today, people. It really helps me to know that you guys are out there....WATCHING!
