1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2 miles outside at night. 10:24 and 11:12

What a break!  It actually started raining on me during this run.  Somebody up there must love me (and not want me to die of heat stroke).  This is probably the first time I've seen it rain in the last 2-3 months.   I had to stop because of a blister on my ankle (this comes from running in soaked shoes) but I felt good enough to do more otherwise--actually I had planned on doing 3 tonight.  So I'll do 3 tomorrow, then a TEMPO 2 mile on Wednesday.  That'll be exciting.   Hopefully I'll be doing a 2 mile tempo every Wed. from now on.  Let's hope I can see progress. . . Maybe I should run this first one really slow, so that I'll be SURE to see progress.  Just kidding.

I'm excited.

Good job! We had rain here too yesterday (along w/ power outage) it was fun to see lightening and enjoy a storm for a change...

I have read a few running articles: that you can add a minute a mile to your time in heat above 90 degrees. It will be interesting to see your pace in cool weather, I bet you will be surprised in the difference. What pace are you planning for your tempo run?

From Sasha Pachev on Tue, Jul 17, 2007 at 23:26:07

Brent - according to the Tinman chart , which I find quite reasonable, 90 degrees makes 5:00 mile a 5:16, so a 10:00 mile becomes 10:32. At 100 degrees, 10:00 mile becomes 10:56.
