Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2 Miles with Holly.  It was fun.  She only needed to walk 2 times the whole run.  See?  If you can't find a runner for a partner, take someone you like and ask them to run.  Actually, almost everyone I have ever asked to run with me has said yes.  People want to be healthier, in general.

Wait--there was that one lady who was too "intimidated" to try running with me.  I could laugh myself right out of my chair over than one.  I am about as intimidating as a 2 legged gerbil when it comes to running, IMHO.  (But a determined 2 legged gerbil nonetheless.)

You are SO much more intimidating than a gerbil when you're running! rofl That really doesn't come out as much of a compliment, does it? I only hope to gain as much as you seem to have in as short a period of time.

OK, now I'm posting in response to my own answer. It just came out wrong! I mean, "gain as much endurance and speed as you seem to have in as short a period of time." sheesh. open mouth, insert foot. 8)

Lybi, do you know that Paul Potts just released his first CD in UK, and it's already topping the charts? It will be released in US in September, but you can still order it now from Amazon as an import. I listened to some extracts - all beautiful songs. Some people criticize the mixing, production, his technical imperfection, etc. But he still has that magical quality that makes you get goosebumps listening to him. He is planning US concert tour in January 2008.

I imagine piano teachers can be fairly intimidating runners! Glad you found someone to run with. Hope your son is doing OK

Lybi,

Another Valley of the Sun runner-yay! Also, I took piano lessons for 10 years, and I still love to play. It's up there with running as the world's greatest stress relievers.

All of my PRs were set about two years ago, when I was either training for a marathon or had just run one. I'm hoping to get faster this year!

I'll say a prayer for your son.

Maria: Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to get it.

Michael: I am NOT intimidating, but for some reason, my students do sometimes cry during lessons. OOPS! Thanks for the concern for my dear little one.

Shauna: That's so cool that you like piano too. I'm sure you'll do nothing but get faster if you continue to blog! Adam is acting very happy--we'll see what the X-rays show next week.
