1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

2.55 Miles, just a quick spin around the heighborhood with Christine at 9:42 pace. We were running a little late today so we had to cut it short.

3.51 On the treadmill late at night.  Humph.  I'm not getting enough sleep to support increasing mileage like I want to.   Will keep trying until success....That's a Sasha quote.

Christmas is an inherently awkward time of year. Just as sure as your dog slobbers some person you barely know is going to show up and give you an unexpected, lavishly wrapped gift. Then you have to scramble around and give them something you pretend you got for them--usually a present from someone else to you. Some of my piano students give me HUGE presents, and I'm like--here's your candy bar kid--now go practice piano.

You cracke me up Lybi. Im all for candy bar gifts and I wish people I barely know gave me gifts...

From Amberosia on Thu, Dec 20, 2007 at 11:01:08

Hey Lybi! My name is Amber and I am a piano teacher too! I will totally agree that it is so embarrassing when I get these beautiful gifts and hand over something I got at the dollar store! I have to keep reminding myself that there are 40 students and only one of me. They would send me to the poor house if I tried to get everyone something really nice! It's fun to finally meet someone who teaches and runs too!

I love your posts...they always make me smile! Thank you.

Good job getting out and looping the neighborhood, at least it's done for the day!

I am glad I am not the only one that gives out gifts i receive. 4 bars for a doller at smiths! Yea!

I usually make a point of letting everybody I run into know about my small Christmas budget. That way they won't feel inclined to get me a big gift and I won't feel bad about not getting them one, since I warned them. Oh, and as far as re-gifting goes, I think I invented it.

Lybi,

Thanks for the invite to run the Striders half. I will definitely give it some thought. It would be lots of fun to have a group of fun ladies to run with. When is the registration deadline? Thanks again, you are so nice to invite me.

From Lybi on Thu, Dec 20, 2007 at 23:19:36

Andee--The Striders half is really cool because you can register up to the day before and it is still just $35.

From crumpy1 on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 00:00:13

Lybi, you will great in the half. Seriously. First of all, you'll be able to finish just fine. And secondly, whatever you do will be a PR.

For 10 mile or 13 mile races which, by the way, still intimidate me, I like to find a friend (or someone who doesn't know we will become friends). Running with them makes the miles pass by super fast.

From James W on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 09:57:40

I agree about running with a friend or friends. When I ran the Provo River 10 miler, I met Clay for the first time and ran with him for around the first 5 miles or so. I was amazed at how fast those first miles went by. As we separated, the last part of the race felt like it went by much slower. You are going to have a blast at both Painter's for those that come, as well as at Striders.

Good job getting on the treadmill for a few more miles last night. I'll keep thinking about Striders, sounds like fun.

From Christi on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 11:14:28

Seriously! My next door neighbor came to the door with a huge beautiful basket and I was like " here, I've got your gift ready for you..." (small Christmas towel and Christmas-y handsoap) I felt like I didn't give her enough- my sister said to just smile and say thank you! Ah well... Hey- I'm leaving town today and don't know when I'll make it to the computer so I wanted to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS LYBI!!!
