1 mile:  6:31

5K:  23:37

Half Marathon: 2:04

My first post-high school 5K, in which I thought I was going to die

The first time I won my age division.  Yippee!

My first half marathon, in which I attack Sasha

The time I beat my high school PR for the 5K (as a 31 year-old mommy of 3!)

My first 5K barefooted

Short-Term Running Goals:

I'm just getting back into running after a long break to have my last child.  I would like to race some 10Ks, a half, and a marathon in the next 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Be the oldest woman to complete a marathon.  Yea!  But hopefully I will also complete some BEFORE I geezer up, like, before I'm 40 for sure.  I think it would be fun to dress up really strange for marathons, like impersonating celebrities and stuff.  Except I don't really like celebrities, as a rule, so maybe I'll have to stick to the age old question of ninja, or pirate.  I say ninja. *Hyah!*

Personal:

I am happily married to James W (Cool Runnings). We have 3 boys and 1 opinionated little girl.  I love reading and I'm also a news junkie.  I am a stinker.

119 miles for the month! A new record by over 12 miles.

2.85 Miles early this morning run Christine. 9:56 ave. pace. I felt extremely sluggish--like I was running 9:00 effort, but just couldn't seem to...wade through the molasses or whatever.

2.55 Miles tonight in the rain. REALLY sluggish. And my knee is not happy.

Part of this sluggishness is that I was up too late last night, I'm sure. I got all excited about this mopping robot I read about. I want one sooo bad!!! I HATE mopping. Mopping is my least favorite job of all time, other than scrubbing the inside of toilets. Blech. I guess that doesn't really explain why I was up late, but I was doing all this research on the internet, and of course, trying to find a good deal on one on Craig's List or ebay or something. I am STILL very excited about it. Just picture it! After dinner I'll

1.) Let my dog Sparky in to eat the big stuff off the floor*

2.) Then I'll turn on my mopping robot to get the smears and, of course, the dog slobber. He he he. Now I want someone to invent a shower cleaning robot and I'll be all set.

This is what it looks like:

I'll probably run again tonight to get to 5.

* My kids don't get their calories from actually ingesting their food, so much as just flinging it around. They probably absorb some of the nutrients through skin contact or something. Hence the extreme need for moppage, and the ensuing mop burnout, experienced by many beginning runners--or at least one.

Think of mopping as a form of cross-training. It works for me.

From Stacy on Sat, Dec 01, 2007 at 15:24:41

I avoid mop burnout by just avoiding mopping altogether. I know, it isn't an option for everybody, but it works for me. The shower cleaner, though, I will look into.

Vacuum and mop, related? Nice mileage month during November. The sound of the vacuum drives me bonkers. Nice picture of you and James. By the way, can you ride that contraption in the picture. I sure one of your kids will give it a shot.

I love the new picture! Does that mean you have Christmas pictures to share? Did Shea take them again? If so, she did a great job!

Great mileage!!!!!

Ashbaker--anyone who wants some cross training should feel free to mop my floors. :)

Stacy--I like your style. You and I have some stuff in common here!

Brent--irobot.com has vacuuming robots too. You can start it, go for a run, come back and it'll be all done. But I think vacuuming is a relatively cool household chore, personally.

Laura, yeah, Shae took that one and a million others. Yippee! Time to order the Christmas cards.

Congrats on the monthly mileage record! Are you shooting for St. George this year?

What I really need is a laundry robot or disposable clothes, or maybe just a whole army of maids while I am creating my wish list, but to me laundry is the worst!

From Michelle on Sat, Dec 01, 2007 at 22:43:13

I'm with "the fast Michelle" I need a laundry robot too!! That would I'm sure up my mileage a few extra 10 a week or so with the added time in my life!!

Brent- you would not survive my house, there is nothing better than a freshly vacuumed floor and I do it often, my kids hate it too. I bet when they move out on their own they won't vacuum for the first two years because they are so sick of it.

From Lybi on Sun, Dec 02, 2007 at 00:19:08

Laundry's not so bad! At least you don't have to worry about splashing toilet water on your face while you do it. I like folding laundry while I watch TV or listen to my son practice piano. It's almost like a break. But I do hate it when it piles up. (The infamous "is-it-clean-or-is-it-dirty pile;" also known as the oh-what-the heck-let's-just-wash-it-again-pile." I do laundry 6 days a week, so I never have to do that much in one day. The key is to get rid of most of your clothes. :) That brings us back to the idea of disposable clothes!! Ha ha. Love it.

MichelleL, hmmmm on St. George. I am focused on the half in March, but if it goes well I might try for St. George. (Oh my gosh I can't believe I just wrote that "out loud.")
