Our house was robbed yesterday, and I spent half the night talking to the police. Then we had a fit-full night sleep (<4hrs). I simply could not run this morning. All day I was planning to run tonight. Yeah, well right after dinner the adrenelin wore off. I am exhausted. Today was originally scheduled as a rest day but since I missed one earlier in the week I thought I might get it a quality run today. But I know at this stage, recovery and sleep are often as important as a quality run. Tomorrow is another day and Saturday is a long run.

I was sorry to hear about the trouble you've had, but don't let the people who did that get you down!

That is the second time you've become a victim of a crime since joining the blog. Is that a fluke, or do you live in a high crime area?

That does sound horrible, were you home or away? Hang in there, we will be thinking about you, keep your chin up!

Thank you for your kind words. The thief was one of the persons installing the air conditioners that we bought. I had to take our daughter to her care-givers as the house was way too hot for her, and I had a doctor appointment later. So I was coming and going from the house all day. I assume it happened at one point while I was away. The owner of the company and the police are working to resolve it. The other incident involved my bank card number and that would have been obtained anywhere - locally or on the internet. We don't live in a high crime area. I do believe both events were just a fluke. Our bank was wonderful, and I got my money back quickly. This time, we have only a few persons it could be and have a strong suspect, but want to avoid accusing anyone without very good evidence. The company owner has vowed to make restitution and is fully cooperating with the detective. I am not particularly concerned with the material goods but appreciate his integrity and will let him make restitution!

The long run tomorrow will be good therapy. I often use long distance runs to process events such as these. In fact, I have done what I call Marathon Therapy. A few years ago I had a miscarriage and ran LA Marathon as a memorial. I left all the pain, anger, and sadness at different points on the course. I thought about a particular emotion while I was running, I mentally "placed" it at the mile markers as I passed. Now when I get sad about the baby, I think about the race and remind myself that all of that stuff was left at mile 1 or mile 17, etc on the streets of Los Angeles. That marathon will always be extremely special to me. Tomorrow I am going to leave some "emotional deposits" on the streets as I run.
