Nike+ Women's Virtual Half Marathon. 9:15 pace for the run. I am pretty happy with that since I ran it as a workout and it is two weeks post-Chicago debacle. In 6 weeks I hope to be running 45 sec faster pace.

Wow...you posted a time. Yes..I'd agree with you...great time for a workout after a marathon...How is Bubbles?

From Lulu on Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 10:35:58

It was a "virtual race" so I could run it anywhere. They gave out Tiffany Key chains to finishers and technical shirts that actually fit a woman!

Bubbles is good right now. My husband met me at the finish line with her. He walked there with her in the jogging stroller. I think it is the first time he's pushed her in it. He usually takes our umbrella stroller. I think he'll be taking the Chariot more often. Bubbles loves it.

Have you been able to run a half at 8:30 pace recently?

From Lulu on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 12:39:45

Nope, I was pregnant and am now getting back into shape. A couple of years ago I was in similar shape to that which I am now and ran a 10 miler in 1:25. My coach thinks it is doable now based on some tempo work she had me do during my 11 miler last weekend. Sunday's run was at "conversational" pace - meaning my friend and I chatted the ENTIRE time. What do you think about 8:30 pace?

From Sasha Pachev on Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 12:46:29

There is not a whole lot of difference between 10 miles and the half. In fact, I may one day run an honest all out 10 miler, and then a week later feel a little stronger, or maybe sitting in a pack rather than running alone, and run a half on a similar course at the same or faster average pace. So if you could do 10 miles in 1:25, you should be able to hold 8:30 pace in the half on a slightly better day.

Lulu, thanks for the kind words. The vet said that he was 95% sure it was oral melanoma, but the pathologist said otherwise. The mass on her back turned out to be the injection site that, for some reason, was inflamed. We believe it is now some blood disorder, as her bloodwork has come back with some odd findings. She is back to normal now. If you would have asked me two weeks ago, I would have said that she would be put to sleep in a short amount of time. She simply looked pitiful. Again, thanks for the kind words and continued success in your running!
