I signed up for the Red Mountain 50k and had a bunch of the team run the half marathon today to help support Steve and Kendra at the SGRC. The race course got switched to all the trails across from the Jacob Hamblin home. The 50k did loops on all the great trails out there. Rim Rock, Rim Reaper, Barrel Roll, Black Brush, Precipice, Suicidal Tendencies, and Upper and Lower Graveyard back to Unity Park in Ivins. It was awesome.

Started the race with Dave (he was running the 30k) and some of my boys. We had a couple guys with us on the first climb and I wanted to push the pace a bit. The first 5-6 miles we were pushing the pace and I knew I needed to ease off the throttle a bit. I ended up running a little bit with James on Barrel Roll which helped for conversation but then I was on my own the rest of the way. Got a little lonely but I really enjoyed the scenery. The course measured long at 32.5 miles. Such are trail races with a little extra distance.

I drank plenty of fluids, had 6 Gu's, and ate three bananas with two heavenly oranges. I also wore the Hoka Clifton and absolutely love them for the trails.

I just had a really fun time today and that was the goal. Getting out on the trails is just a nice stress relief. I am considering a 50 miler in the summer. Loads of fun today.

On a side note, 6 of the top 10 were from my team in the boys race and I had one girl place 3rd overall on the women's side.

Great way to end the week!

Hey good race Logan. I'm not sure if you remember me, but I started the race with you for the first mile or so. I run with Cody up in Logan. Great job man!
