2 miles in the morning.

9 miles in the afternoon.

My right Achilles tendon wasn't feeling too hot this morning. It was quite tight and bothering me. I went home and took some Ibuprofen and iced it. I hope this isn't anything. I will be take it easy this afternoon with the miles and see how I feel afterwards.  I felt good this afternoon and went out for a nice 9 miler.  Katey rode her bike alongside me.  It was nice having conversation with her.  I did the rolling hills up into North Ogden.  The Achilles feels better tonight.

Check your shoe mileage - aching ach. is always the first sign of old shoes for me. And then just ice, ice, ice. No big deal you'll be over it soon. Sorry I missed you at state - it is just so crazy up there.

My left achilles has flared up a couple times this year, and it seems to stem from tight calves. It hit me after WBR, Des News, and St. George and is still bugging me. I bet you have some nasty knots in those legs. Ice a lot and maybe bust your stick out and work those calf muscles over. I wouldn't worry about it though because you are a machine!

Get a massage.

Also, ease off on non-speed days. 6:24 is way too fast. Hold your horses and run no faster than 7:00, maybe 6:50 on the last couple of miles. Your body is still learning about how to deal with the stress of running, so you could have some subsystems developing ahead of others. When you ease off on an easy run, it gives the underdeveloped subsystems a chance to catch up, and thus keep things in balance.

Has Paul ever told you about TP Massage? You can really work those knots out of your calves with the TP Massage ball.
