I went to bed last night at 9:00, so today's long run was easier than last week's. We went 11 miles today but our pace was really slow. Both of us were actually surprised how slow our pace had been - it didn't seem like we were going that slow. We might need to run on a different route, just to break up our pattern. I tried a different water/fuel pattern today. I took 2 bloks before I started running, a little water around mile 5, a little endurance drink at mile 7 and 9.5. I think I need fuel a little before mile 7 because I started to feel like I was running out of steam.

After my run, I didn't have nearly the fatigue that I experienced with my 10 miler last week. I was a little sore, but I just kept stretching; and I'm feeling pretty good right now. I went to the chiropractor today; my back was out and it was hurting my knees a little as I ran. Cami hasn't been walking for a week and a half (because of an injury at a park), and my back hasn't enjoyed lifting and carrying a 55 pound kid.

You were probably more fatigued from your 10k than you realized. That would account for the slow pace.

You only start drinking at mile 5? That's almost an hour with no fluids. I try to drink every 20 minutes or so if I'm on a long run. Of course if I'm only going 5 or 6 miles then I don't drink until the end. But on a long run I start the hydrating process early.

WOW - 11 miles is great! When is your half?

Laura, Laura, Laura, sweet, sweet run.

100 commando points for the effort. You will be ready for the trail half marathon. It sounds darn fun.

Heber, thanks for the input. That's good advice about the water and it makes sense. I kept feeling really thirsty from mile 7 on.

Jody, my half is on Labor Day. AHhhhhh!!!!

Brent, thanks!!! I ALWAYS love earning commando points! It seems like it wasn't that long ago that you were encouraging me on my first 2 mile run with no walking. ha!

Wow! Another world record! Congrats, Laura--and right after a race, too!

Sorry about your back. I didn't know Cami got hurt! I'm so sorry. Give that little (big!) doll a hug for me.
