I took a totally different route today - a loop which started out downhill, had a lot of flat ground in the middle and ended with my mammoth hill. It was tough to end on a steep hill - and I'm sure that I looked ridiculous going 14:00 pace and huffing and puffing - but I made it! My legs felt good today and I was surprised that my pace was steady during the long, flat stretch. I'm so used to hills that I assume I can never keep a consistent pace. ;o) This evening, my right knee is acting "out" but my legs don't ache like the did last week. Maybe I'm finally getting used to a longer run? I don't know. I need to set my sights for my next race! ...

Laura, read your comment to Jody on double digit miles. Nothing wrong with that, especially in the winter, have had plently of those miles myself. My suggestion, keep working on your base and stay healthy. The speed will come as you get in better shape. By the way, you are one of the WOWs.

Stay Cool, B of BS Rools out.

Thanks, Brent!!! I always appreciate your comments. That's actually my hope and my plan - to keep building up my mileage until I get to 5 miles without feeling exhausted, then start working on the pace for a while. Thanks for the WOW comment, too! I'm not sure if it's an acronym for something or just, "Wow, that girl's never run before and she's actually sticking to it." LOL

Laura - thanks for your comments. I'm 6 weeks today and I guess they consider me somewhat high risk. Before I had the twins I had several miscarriages so they moniter me pretty closely in the beginning. I would really like to keep running, but after yesterdays terrible experience who knows.

Excellent! 4 miles of very hilly terrain in the freezing cold--you are definitely a "real" runner.
