I saw a physical therapist this morning and I'm very happy and hopeful that she'll be able to help me through this hip/pelvis/tailbone issue that I've been having ... forever, it seems. :o) She did a lot of stretching and tried to "release" muscles in my SI joint (where pelvis and sacrum meet). She tried to un-"stick" it, but it was too tight. So, she gave me 5 different stretches to do over the weekend and I'll go back again next week. She says it's probably been stuck since my last pregnancy ... and maybe longer. It's a very common problem, so I'm grateful that she knows just what to do. This is the same PT that my sister-in-law and husband both saw -- and they both really liked her. So, here's hoping!!!

(Only bad thing is -- of course, she needs me to take another week off of running. Hopefully I can go cycling or something to keep up my cardio. The pounding of running, would be counterproductive to the un-sticking process.)

Sounds like you have found the right therapist. Hope it works well. Don't know why it shouldn't. We will miss you this week-end.

Glad your appointment went well. Enjoy your "rest" week and you'll be back in no time!

Yea Laura! I'm so happy that you found a doctor that is going to help you. Stretching is such a great thing and not only does it help fix problems but it also helps keep the problems from returning. Anyway, she sounds like she can really help. I hope it turns out. And don't feel bad about not being able to run. If you can do some cross-training then the important thing is just staying fit. And if not, taking time to rest is also really good for you. And in my class I read that you can get back into shape in the same amount of days that you rested. Anyway, take it easy and good luck!

Oh good, glad you are in capable hands. Good luck! Do you have a bike? Do you still have the elliptical? Elliptical is a lot like running but without the impact.

So sorry to hear you are injured and having to take a break. It really makes you miss running when you know you can't go out and do it. I will cross my fingers that the excercises do the trick and you are good as new soon.

Thinking about you, I hope all is going well and you are enjoying your time off.

Thank you so much, Mom, Lybi, Kristina, Jody, Christi, and Andee for your support and well wishes. There's nothing more irritating than knowing you CAN'T go running, is there?! It's one thing if life gets too busy for a while, but to know that you're not supposed to is so frustrating. Ha,ha. But I'm still feeling very positive that the problem will be much better with a little more time and then I won't be limited by it anymore. Thanks again, friends and family!!!!

I saw you left a welcome on my wife's blog (Sunny)she is doing a good job and working on getting into running shape. I noticed you guys said you lived in Colorado and it looks like your family picture is near Boulder?

I grew up in Craig, Colorado on the western slope and we lived there for 4 years when I first started teaching. We sometimes miss living there like June, July, and August when it is so hot in St. George, but then I remember shoveling snow and sub zero temps during the winter.

Thanks for the Welcome! Like my husband said above we lived in Northwest Colorado. Great place minus the snow! Yes, the jogging stroller is giving me a great workout! But I am enjoying it so far and it beats the treadmill (my opinion)
