I have no idea what happened to me the last few weeks.  I have said once I fall off getting going again is so hard.  I can't seem to shake the same cold I have had for over a month now and I think I ran out of rope the last week but I am ready to get going again.

I ran my first mile in 11:30 I was suprised that I could still runn after being so bad the last little bit.  I walked and ran the next 1.25. I am not sure where I should pick back up so I thought 30 minutes was good.  If I was at the gym I would have taken my 1.5 hrs but at home it is to hard to stay on the treadmill much longer because I have to many things to do.

I can say my last pattern of running and working out I did not see alot of physical results and I think that discoraged me alot. I thought after 6 weeks of really working out I would have seen a big diffrence in my body.

After not working out for a couple of weeks I see huge negative effect in my moods. i am unbearable alot of the time.

Good job on getting back on the band wagon. I know it is hard with everything you have on you plate but keep at it. I'll be watching.

Any fitness gained in 6 weeks can be easily lost in one, especially if you get sick, do not get good sleep, are stressed out, etc. Lasting fitness gains take some time to build - months, even years. Unlike a car, for a runner there is a lot of value in high amount of life-time mileage.

But do not let this get you discouraged. Improvement in running, as well as in any other area I've experienced, is a long process of stumbling, falling, getting up, and continuing in steady step forward. Looking back at what happened to me in the last 23 years of running, the key to my progress was not in not falling down. I had my fair share of downs. The key was that no matter what happened, I refused to quit. Every successful runner will tell you the same story.

Just ask Paul Petersen for example - through persistence he went from wondering if he would ever run competitively again to making the Olympic Trials and placing 53rd.

You can also ask Dallen. As a kid, he once tried out for the track team. I think there were 7 kids that tried in the 40 yard dash, and you had to place in the top 6 to make the team. Guess which one of them did not make it... But that did not keep him from trying. He refused to be written off as a waste with no talent, and trained. He ended up winning the Boise Marathon in 1999.

It's amazing how fast we lose it when we miss a week or two! Good job on your run today. Fun to hear you have 4 year old twins. I have 3 year old twins. Running keeps me sane!

Glad to see that you are back! Thought you went MIA! But with all that you have going on I wouldn't blame you!!! Keep trying, I'm sure you'll start to see the results with continued efforts! I'm with you and see such a benefit with my moods it's amazing!!! My family I'm sure has noticed too, but maybe they don't know why. I also didn't see great results phsically for several months and they were very gradual but when I look back now I'm pretty happy with the results I'm getting now!! Keep it up when you can :)

Hang in there...don't you love this blog? I was surprised to see all the comments you got when I thought about trying to cheer you up so many people had already beat me to the job.

I was really suprised. I think I am always the one who is quiet and in the back and if i walked away no one would notice. It brought tears to my eyes to see all the coments when i checked my e-mail.

Thankyou!
