I would like to stay fit. I have 6 kids and I want to be physically able to keep up with them. I would eventually like to run some longer races and maybe do a triathalon.

I am very happily married, We have 6 children. 4 girls and then we adopted two boy's. They are 17mths, 4,4,4,7 and 11.

I ran the first 4 miles in just under 42 minutes. Then I walked .25 uphill and streched.
I worked my arms and abs. Then I rode the bike 3 miles in 15 min.

If you think your shins can hold up, yes. I would recommend backing off to 11:00 mile pace (about 5.5 mph). You will gain the same aerobic benefits, but it would be easier on your shins.
