I had a crazy busy day but managed to work in a run and a bike ride. My goal on the treadmill was to run 40 minutes and that is what I did. I walked the last .16 in after the 40 minutes ended.

Then I took my baby to his well child check that was a nightmare and I am glad it is over.  I cooked dinner and then rode 3 miles on the bike. (My husband bought me an  exercise bike this weekend) He got a good deal on ksl.

You know...you are inspiring me to cross train after I have this baby. I like running but I love biking and other forms of exercise.

Thanks for reminding me of our Saturday runs. That does make me feel a lot better. I am looking forward to them and I think we'll be just right for each other until you start getting too fast for me...I was faster than my current partner for awhile but she caught up and passed me....

When I make the apple crisp I am actually terrible about measuring..like a good cook should be right? Well....maybe not but I'm rotten at that part. For the baking dish I use which I think is a little bigger than 9x13..like 10 by 14 but shouldn't make a big difference...I do this

10-12 medium apples chopped in pieces about as big as for fruit salad. I don't peel them.

2 cups oats

sorry...I hit enter and it sent the comment...I hate that

10-12 apples

2 cups oats

2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2-3/4 cup crystallized fructose...or honey is okay too...just clumps up a bit when stirring.

1-2 t cinammon

2 T light tasting olive oil (I use this in all my baking but this is optional in this recipe. It tastes fine without oil.

Place chopped apples in greased baking pan or dish. Mix together other ingredients in seperate bowl and sprinkle generously over apples.

Cover with foil (the apples will be more tender but okay without) Bake at 350 for

60-90 minutes.

Tonight I baked it for 60 and then turned it off and left it in there for another 30. The apples were so tender.

well maybe after you have the baby we can bike on Saterday's. I really have to do something besides just run. I enjoy going to the gym but I would come to dread going if I just ran for 1.5 hours all the time. I am sure I will change my mind when I start running outside.

You never know maybe you won't slow down as much as you think you will. You are pretty consistent and you take good care of your health!

O thanks for the recipe! I have been craving that the last few days. Have you tried it with peaches?

From sarah on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 17:55:45

I only let myself make fruit desserts with fruit in season that I can get really cheap. Peaches I make into yummy peach cobbler in August and September. I make strawberry pie in April/May. Cherry cobbler in July..and then apples desserts throughout the winter. I love fruit desserts...they are my specialty and my favorite.

You come quilt for me and I'll give you a free years pass to Sarah's Specialty Dessert Inn. :)

Are you talking to me? I'll take it:)

From sarah on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 18:46:35

Yes...definitely...and Katie too since this is her blog. Just gotta get some frames...I'll work on that problem after Ragnar.

From kt on Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 22:21:10

If I could ever get a time away I would come help you quilt. I need frames also, so I can't help you there. What is Ragnar?

I was thinking peaches because I have about 12 jars of peaches I canned left from last summer. They go so fast just plain so putting them in a crisp for the kids would maybe make them go farther. I have a recipe but not healthy enough to feel good about giving it to the kids as breakfast or something. They loved the apple that you made so I need to get some apples.
