Seth and I graduated from BYU April 2007. Our beautiful son Simeon was born that May. I started running again in June with the encouragement of Seth and Lybi. Seth, Lybi, Laura, and their mom are the ones who really keep me running :P

The Farnsworth Family is taking over! And it's all because of Lybi. Lybi is my sister-in-law. She came for a visit and we went running together this morning. After our run I thought it sounded like fun to get on the blog so that I have someone to keep track of me and help motivate me.

I had my first baby two months ago. At 6 weeks postpartum I began running on the elliptical for five minutes. Since then I have been running on the elliptical 6 days a week and have added a minute to my workout every day. I have also added more resistance as well. Today was my first outside run since I got pregnant. During my pregnancy I would do fast walking three days a week. Today we ran for 25 minutes and about 2.5 miles.

I was VERY tired after our run. I am in an online jogging class and we are supposed to keep track of or heart rates. We are supposed to workout between 60-70% of our VO2 max. For me right now my heart rate should be between 150-160. Today my heart rate was above 180. Oops. That's a bit too high J Now my legs and my hips and my abs are all sore.

I may have worked too hard today, but I still feel good about my run. It was good to finally have a nice long outside run. Also, the elliptical didn't say I had run 1 mile until I had hit 18 minutes. In high school I could run and 8 or 9 minute mile and even though I'm not really in shape, I didn't think I was really running 20 minute miles. That would be way sad. So it's good to know that I'm running about a 10 minute mile, which is about what I always run when I'm out of shape. So even though I am sore, today's run makes me feel good about myself. It's a lot more encouraging than that dang elliptical and that horrible scale that keeps telling my I've stopped losing weight. I also had fun running with Lybi. It's too bad we can't run together more but at least we can be running blog pals.

Oops. Can't believe you never told us to slow down! You have one of those "pioneers walking across the plains and never complaining once" attitudes. I have never run so soon after having a baby, so be careful--and great job being consistent. So cool to have you on the blog! You are awesome! How'd my little brother ever get you to marry him! (Just kidding, Seth!)

Hey Kristina....we love Lybi and we will love you too!!! I heard you just had a baby...you are brave to start training again. I usually can run again around 8 weeks or so but I also ran during my pregnancies too. I even ran some races when my babies were that little so you should be fine.

I'd say don't worry about the scale AT ALL. It takes me about 9 months to lose the fast(you've heard the 9 months to put it on ...9 months to get it off...well it's true for me and that is with running the WHOLE time...pregnancy and ALL) So just try and eat right and be consistent in your training and relax. Stress can cause weight gain too.

fun to have you on the blog
