Luckily Tom and I didn't have to go out in the dark and windy morning...we were able to wait a few hours and go out in the light and windy mid morning! We decided to start out with the wind at our backs. We knew that would mean we would eventually have it in our face but by that time we would be 3 miles away from home so we would have no choice in the matter! It was nice that the sun was shining and the wind was not a biting, cold wind, but it was a very stiff wind and gave us a run for our money! It was an awesome run...I was feeling good so I imagined myself cutting through the wind and all of a sudden I was picking up the pace. I haven't done much speed work for a while so it was fun to work hard into the wind. The final mile was with the wind at our back and I ran a mile in under 8:00 (7:57) for the first time in a long time. The wind blew a big branch down from our tree in our back yard. Looks like it will give our 17 year old a good clean up job! : )
