Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

The wind tried to discourage me all the way through this run!  No matter which way I turned I felt like it was against me.  One time as I made a turn I wasn't expecting a gust from the side and it almost tripped me up.

A little sad note today, (but also a good thing), Tom and I received our weekly email from our son serving an LDS mission in Japan and he said that this week he was "Dear Johned"  I wish I could go give him a big hug.  I know he knows it is for the good and all will be well, but that doesn't always help the heartache that goes along with it.

Nothing toughens a runner up like a good ol' SF canyon wind run! That should be good for some of those BSRools/Brent commando points I think. I need to get him over to your blog more often to see all your good efforts!

Sorry to hear about the wind and the son... inspite of the wind you still got in a nice run though!

Did you see the sign up info on my blog or the forum?

From Kim on Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 12:16:48

Thanks to both of you.

Michelle, I did see the registration. I feel guilty signing me and Tom up when only 6 can be on a team. Should we start a new one?

From Michelle on Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 12:19:56

I don't think it matters we will need more than one team for all of us that want in so if you start a new team now or someone else does later, either way!

Kim, heartache is part of life, hopefully your son will gain perspective from it an move on. By the way, yes, major commando points, 25 commando points, before you get more points, did you pick up the pace into the wind?

From Kim on Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 21:21:33

Why yes I did as a matter of fact! Not intentionally, I think I was just trying to beat it and realized after I got through it that I had picked up the speed! Thanks for the commando points--I've been wanting some of them! BTW, how did this commando point thing come along?

From Brent on Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 23:00:21

Kim, your the first one to ask. A couple of years ago I was training with my step son for the St.George marathon. We were on a long run when he decided we should have a contest to be the first to jump a chain stretched accross a shut down part of the trail. Well the race was on, (the chain was about 50 yrds ahead) we both took off like a shot to jump the chain, I tripped over a tree root, splattered on the ground, was back up in a split second and jumped the chain a split second after my step son. My step son said, wow, you are a real commando. From the point on we awarded commando points for outstanding efforts. The real benefit of commando points, they will be cashed in for runner high moments when you least expect. The next time you feel great about your effort, your run, you can look back and say, hey, the run where I earned commando points really paid off. Hey, another 25 commando points for picking it up into the wind, following my Rools. By the way, you can also lose commando points for breaking the BS Rools. Stay cool, B of BS Rools out.

I bet that girl that Dear Johned your son was not helping him foces on his mission. I bet he will become a better missionary because of it. But you cannot stop the heartache.
