I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

I decided to run in the sun today.  I might as well face it, I'm going to be in some heat come Saturday.  I did a 1 1/2 mile warm up and then wanted to see if I could remember how to run a mile around 8 minute pace.  I'm not sure if I was suppose to do that or not, but I want to be prepared and see what my knee can handle.  I didn't look at the  Garmin until the end.  I just wanted to run and see what happened.  I was hoping it would be close to the 8 mm.  When I got done I looked and I had ran the mile in 7:31, (I even had a road kill, which is probably why I ran faster than I had planned.  I was pracitcing taking people down.  Little did that really nice lady know she had a target on her back.  :o))  I was definitely breathing hard, but my legs felt great!  I wore the band around the top of my knee to see how that felt.   I think I will wrap it on Saturday too.  If I decide I don't like it I can always take it off.

Isn't it funny how dedicating something to someone works?  I've been talking to people that I am dedicating a mile to and it is interesting to see their response.  I feel honored to have them to dedicate it to and they, in return, feel honored to have the dedication in their behalf.  It is a simple thing for me to do and yet it means so much to me and to them.  Simple things....they are so important.  We all need to do more simple things for each other!  Here's to simple things!  :o)  (o:

Sounds like the legs are ready to go! :) That is the BEST news ever :)

Kim it sounds like your legs are full of zip and rip-rarrin to let loose on Saturday! Great job running that 7:31. I think Coach Tom needs to learn from you how to ignore that Garmin more often.

I'm so glad to know you're feeling strong again! It's that crazy scraping! Good job taking it easy and finding the way back!!

Kim, good to hear your legs are feeling better. You know, I think I am going to take your lead, dedicate miles to special people. I may not pick a specific mile, but, maybe write their name on my hat. If this is going to be my last marathon, something to remember.

Yes, we will likely see you on friday, we plan on coming. I feel a little funny, kind of like a non-runner, coming at this point.

Brent,

I love the idea of writing their names on your hat! It made me think of other things we could do....start out with 26 balloons and let one go at each mile. Or start out with 26 bricks and drop one at each mile as you release a burden from your life! Wouldn't that make those last miles feel extra easy without all those bricks?! What is it Amanda Dickson says? Bless and release? We could do a lot of blessin and releasin! I think that is just what I will do...bless and release, without the balloons and bricks! I hope you have a fabulous experience with this marathon! With your attitude, I don't doubt that you will!

Bless and release, great idea. Now, for Amanda Dixon style, circle your arm and throw the burden to the sky? Some other things I have in mind when the running gets real tough: wearing the hat, when I get dead dog tired, turn the hat around for a rally hat; ask for support from anyone left to cheer on the course and try to get other runners to join in. Chants, my old military training, make up chants as I go: I don't know, but I just heard, up ahead are the running nerds, sound off, 1, 2, 3, 4: what are we running for: Kevin, Karen, etc.

You cheated and had to go running. Well at least you only did 3 miles. I'm glad things are looking up for the big adventure.
