I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

So far today I am choosing to take an extra rest day.  I've had a pretty nasty sore throat all weekend which has resulted in some bad night's sleep.  Also with the knee thing I feel the best thing for me right now is to let the energy my body has go towards healing.  I may or may not feel like getting 1 or 2 miles in later.

P.M.  I wanted to try my new prewrap that Teena sent down for me to try.  I thought it would be nice to go out and try it on something very short to see how to adjust the tension.  I feel like it was about right.  I didn't feel pain in my knee, but then again, .5 miles isn't very far to really know with.  I will wrap my leg and do an easy 5 or 6 miler tomorrow and see how it feels.

Very smart!!

The sore throat might actually prove to be a good thing if it encourages you to give your knee a little more time to heal before hitting the pavement again!! Relax and take it easy!! Lots of fluids, vitamin C and zinc!! :)

Good idea to take the day off. Last time I tried to run with a sore throat it burned worse from the cool air. Your body will thank you. And good you got it now and not before SGM. It will be long gone before then. Yahoo!!!

Glad to see the first test went good today with the IT band and the prewrap.

So I'm curious.....did you get the full running gear on for this .5 mile run today?

From Kim on Mon, Sep 15, 2008 at 15:59:08

OK Curious George,,,,Yes, I DID get my full running gear on for this .5 mile run today! :o) But I was intending for it to be a 1 - 2 mile run when I went out. But not too far into it Jansen called me on my cell phone and said he was done with his ortho appointment so I had to turn around and go get him. I thought he was going to be another hour or so. By the time I picked him up, got him some lunch and back to school, I figured my .5 was exactly what I needed for today.

Take care of your sore throat. Don't overdo it!! :)

No pain is a good sign - continue to take care of yourself!

From JeffC on Tue, Sep 16, 2008 at 11:02:28

Much of my pain usually comes in the first 0.5 miles of a run until everything is warmed up. Not feeling any pain in the knee is a good sign. Hope it continues.
