I started running in the fall of 2007. I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.
Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014. My favorite PRs: 2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22. 2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15
Short-Term Running Goals:
Long-Term Running Goals:
Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.
Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!
On running and on life.....
On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Personal:
Going to St. George? Bag the hotel and stay in one of our condos instead!
Tom and I went out for a quiet morning 5 miler. Too much traffic on the river bottom roads this morning!
I'm working on a list for the marathon. I am going to dedicate each mile to someone. I am also associating a hymn or primary song with each one of the people. I am going to make a little paper bracelet to wear so I can be reminded who each mile is for. As I run that mile I will think of that person and how they have affected my life for good and how the song reminds me of them. I will also picture that person cheering me on through that mile.
What a great idea!! I am going to pass that idea on to our group. Good luck on the 22 miler! We really wish we could have gotten that in. I'm noticing you did the painter's half last year. Did you like it? We're considering it.
Good way to focus on something else rather than the miles. It would be cool if you could make a belt made of paper or something and rip off at each mile the dedicatory slip with the name and song on it. It would also represent a countdown. Just thinking outloud. Great idea!!!
Kim, I like your idea for before or after the race. Just a bit of cold water. I would recommend stay focused completely on the race, your breathing, cutting the tangents, getting your fluids, etc. Stay focused on the race for the best marathon and don't let your mind wander. Just a few minutes mind wandering can result in precious lost seconds and cost a BQ.
Kim, I just read your post from yesterday. I actually did this when I ran the SGM for the last time last year. It wasn't intentional, just something that happened. I was running and a song came on my ipod that reminded me of my younger brother. As i was listening to it I said to myself "this mile is for the brother". The next song reminded me of my oldest son so "this mile is for Evan". I ended up running a mile for everyone in my family and some good friends, etc. It was an overwhelming experience and one that really humbled me. I have full intentions of doing it again this year. It really made the miles fly by and gave me a greater appreciation for my abilities and for having so many wonderful people in my life. I want to know how this goes for you!! Great Post!
