Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Towards the end of yesterday's run I started feeling a pain in my right foot.  It hurt on the top and around the inside and down throughout the arch.  I didn't think much more about it because it didn't hurt the rest of the day while I was walking.  But this morning it hurt from the very first step.

I kept at the back of the pack to see if keeping it slow would help me be able to get my 20 miles in today.  Neldon had an Aleve for me to take at about 8 miles.  It really helped my foot, but my IT band on my left leg was hurting.  I think it was because I was altering my stride because of the foot.  As I continued on I felt I better head back home a little earlier than planned.  It scares me to do something that will stop me from running SGM.   I have worked so hard this year, I can't imagine how I would feel if I were to do damage enough that would keep me from running the marathon.

I hope the rest day tomorrow will really help me out.  Neldon was telling me about a little contraption that him and his wife are trying out.  It sends charges through your body and is suppose to help with all kind of things.  Him and his wife have been using it this week and he has done much better with his 'bone on bone' knee that has really been a bother to him.  He said that I can probably come down later and try it out to see if it helps me out a bit.  I am willing to give it a try.  He seems pretty excited about it.

Kim you did the smart thing by not forcing the run today. I know all to well what can happen when you don't listen to your body, you might say I'm pretty much an expert at it.

Let's do everything possible to take care of that foot: RICE, go to the doc, charged particles, acupuncture, magic crystals, magnets, etc....heck I'm up for trying anything once! Just whatever we have to do to make sure BOTH of us get to the start line in one piece.

Kim,

Are they using an E-Stem machine? Thats what I have been using on my hip and it has done wonders! Today was the first day that I actually had no pain, so I would give it a try, it couldn't hurt.

It was good seeing you out there today, I'm sorry you had to cut your run short though:-(

Smart girl! Take care of yourself! We do not want an injury. 16.5 miles is still really good!

Still a nice run despite the aches and pains. I don't know what to tell you about the IT band because I have never had to deal with it. But for the arch and foot issues I usually freeze a water bottle and then roll my socked foot on it several times a day for 15-20 minutes. It has really seemed to calm things down in there for me. The anti-inflams will also help along with the icing. Plenty of rest and ice will do you some good this weekend. Prop up your feet and watch some football with Tom.

I think we're all freaking out about SG! We're al getting injured! Vitamin I (ice) is working wonders for me. Let us know how that electron thing works. I'm with Tom up there, willing to try anything once! Good luck getting healed up...Hopefully by Monday Ice/Ibuprofen will have worked their wonders....

Good luck getting the injuries figured out. What a bummer.

Sorry your foot was bothering you today and I hope that it feels better in the next few days. I am with Tom and trying new things to make it feel better. Oils, meditation, breathing positive energy into the area, etc. :). Keep me posted on any updates regarding your "condition". I will be thinking about you. Oh, and I heard you made it to the baptism. I didn't doubt you for a minute~ Hope you had a good day.

Kim, how about positive ions, bare feet in the grass, ice from the inside out with ice cream. You could not run another step between now ant St.George and still run a decent marathon, you have the guts and the training behind you. Listen to coach Tom and take care. My take on foot problems, check you walk around and dress shoes, dress shoes are killers on feet.

Ah Kim, the foot thing is a bummer. At least you are in the hands of pros here on the blog! I hope you find some good, quick remedies. Hopefully staying off it a day or 2 will do the trick.

Plenty of sleep at night, good nutrition and a couple of easy days should clear that right up. I know a lot of people are getting aches and pains this month and I'm sure it's a sign of the heat and hard work. But it doesn't have to mean you're locked in the infirmary for 6 weeks. Be smart about lifestyle habits and have faith in your body's ability to heal. Good luck!
