Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

This morning Tom and I ran into our friend, Sarah, who was just trying to decide if she wanted to go for a walk or get  a run in.  She decided to join in with us for our little loop.  It was fun to have her along with us.  I'm glad Tom and I haven't had the sickness set backs that they have had this summer.  They have had to make the decision to bag the SGM for this year.

Tom tripped on a wire or something that was in the road and just about had face contact with the road.  Luckily he caught himself before he went all the way down, but I hope he didn't pull anything.

Thanks Kim for the comment! I don't know what happened I just started to loose interest in running but I am back. Maybe it was because it was so blasted HOT here! Dang, you are doing so good. SGM will be here before you know it!

I just paid a rare visit to the mileage board. I saw your name just above mine and did a little comparing:

Last year/this year (so far)

Kim 303.88/1238.9

Paul 1926.01/1344.8

Last month/this month (so far)

Kim 200.45/150.85

Paul 216.1 /156.5

Last week/this week (so far)

Kim 56.3/23.85

Paul 56.5/23.7

I ran 1600+ more miles than you last year. I haven't slacked off, yet you are now beginning to equal or beat my mileage. Impressive!

You give Coach Tom a lot of credit, and maybe justly so, but to my knowledge he hasn't carried you a single one of those 1200+ miles this year. You've definitely earned the success you're seeing.

Good luck at Hobble Creek! I hope you have a great run!...and your coach, too...and maybe his buddies Nathan and Kerry and Paul and...ah, heck, I hope everyone has a great run! Good or bad, every race is an adventure!

Wow Paul, you think too much... :) ...must be a guy thing. (I notice it with Tom and Sasha and many more on the discussion board.) I'm glad I don't have to think so much. :D

But thanks for the observation. It has been a good running year for me. I was telling Tom yesterday that I was excited about all the people who were telling him he is a good coach. :) I'm glad it has worked out well, most people tell me they wouldn't like working with their spouse that way, but it has been great! I really appreciate not having to make the same mistakes he has made in my running. With his help and all of you I have had quite an advantage over the average start up runner.

Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement!

I've been thinking a lot about what you said about me thinking too much. I like to think that I think the right amount, but if you think I think too much then I think I better think more about what you think and maybe not think so much. I think that is what I think. "I think I better think it out again." (Fagin, from Oliver) :)

From Kim on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 18:34:00

And don't forget..."I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!" (The Little Engine That Could) So I guess thinking is all right! Keep it up! I know I quote the little engine many times in my head, especially when running up hills! And I'm sure the last 6 miles or so of SGM I will be doing a lot of self help thinking motivational things! So 'lets all think a thought, up to the mountain top!' (You've got to sing that to "Let's go fly a kite", but let's not get off on Mary Poppins again! OK...no more thinking for today! :)

Kim - you will do great on Saturday. I will not have my phone with me. I got a new one, blackberry type thing and it is too awkward to stash anywhere. I am sure we will be there pretty early to use the port a potties and get rid of some nerves. I will try to look for you at the park and in the bus line.

From Brent on Thu, Aug 21, 2008 at 23:31:35

Kim, we will see you saturday, just run, stay calm, save thinking for after the race.

Good tempo run yesterday Kim, good luck for the race, with the training you've been doing you've good reason to be confident.

From lisa on Fri, Aug 22, 2008 at 13:01:16

Good luck on the 1/2 marathon. Wish our group was doing it.

So does Sarah want to give me her St george entry and I'll run it for her?
