Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Today while in the river bottoms I decided I want to write a letter to the mayor and see if there is any way the city would provide a few porta-potties down in that area. Necessity is the mother of invention! Was able to hold off until home at 4.5 miles. The block and a half before my house was at a 5:13 pace....bathrooms nearby can really speed you up! Tom was finished then and will add his 7 or so more later at work. I went back out to finish up my 6 for the day.

Tom and I really need a good night's sleep tonight! Tomorrow is our big adventure with the Race All Night. It is not a running race, it is more like the Amazing Race. It is a new Utah Valley thing with a grand prize to Cancun, Mexico. It is a 24 hour deal with a 3 hour rest period. I hope it turns out as fun as it sounded when we signed up!

Kim you were really bookin' it there on your bathroom sprint! Glad you were able to arrive "safely" at the desired destination :)

Looking forward to our non-running Race tomorrow. I'm thinking Cancun just could be in our future!

Hope things go well for you at work today.

Great job on our distance and I understand the bathrooms speeding you up. Good luck with your race and I hope you win!

Have you had any luck with st. george yet?

From Jody on Thu, May 29, 2008 at 20:16:54

I completely understand the bathroom sprint!

Good luck tomorrow night - you guys will do great!

I have the same question as Laurie - Did you find a way in? If so, I am still trying as well. Any ideas would be great.

Jody,

I am trying to win the golden ticket at the Heart of Holladay race. If that doesn't work I'm trying the charity option. I'm sure hoping something pans out, because I am really working hard for this and want to run it! Good luck to you! I've heard of people calling down and whining and getting in, but I kind of hate to go that route.

How long is a block and half, and how do you know you were going 5:13? I assume off the GPS, which is not always reliable. But it could be, or it could err on the slow side. Although if you are looking at the maximum speed it would always err on the fast side because GPS is always in error on current pace, but somewhat correct when it is averaged out. Average speed over a segment could be off on either side, though.

For a more accurate measurement of your speed go to a high school track and run a lap with the same effort.
