Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Lots to do today, starting out right at midnight!  I got signed up as a volunteer for the WBR.  Our son, Tyler, and I will be working at the finish line from 1:30-6:00.  It's always fun to help out there.  It will be fun to have Tyler there with me this year.

Nice morning, around 50 degrees!  Wow!  We aren't quite sure how to handle mornings like that!  Tom gets more later at work so he went a little over 4 with me.  We ran past John A a few times.  He was pretty speedy as he passed by me close to his house at the end of his run.

I am impressed you got the coveted finish line volunteer spots. I got up at 1am to do the signups for our team and most of those were ALREADY taken. Should be lots of fun for you though.

What is the WBR?? It was a beautiful morning. I enjoy the no coat and raingear runs. Hope the good weather sticks around

Beautiful consistency this week! Busy week too, getting to talk to your son & all. You'll have fun at WBR, good for you for volunteering!

Kim, have fun at the relay, we should put our own team together next year.

Stay Kool, Mud Hen out.

What a fun, busy week you're already having! Have you picked out a different marathon yet? You should pick some where that you have to travel to, then you could call it a getaway for you and Tom and take some extra days before just sight-seeing! That sounds fun to me, at least. : )

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, May 15, 2008 at 17:02:16

Sight-seeing should be reserved for after the marathon if you want to have a good experience during. Very few Utahns run to their potential in Boston, and I would say about 80% of the reason is site-seeing the day before. Being away from home is hard enough on your body, you add going to odd places on top of it and when it is time to race you are in trouble.

From laura on Thu, May 15, 2008 at 18:42:52

Wow, I really wouldn't have thought that. Sight seeing after your first marathon doesn't sound like a great alternative either - my brother said he was hardly able to walk to his airplane. : ) Maybe stay close to home. : )

Cody,

Last year I ended up with a really hard shift because I waited too long to get signed up. This year I think I was the very first one on the list. It was worth staying up until midnight for. Especially since we were already up and bugged from the Jazz game.

Laura,

I haven't picked another marathon because I am hoping and working hard to earn a spot in SGM still. This Saturday I have a chance and in June I have a chance. I also have the charity option which would be really cool too if any are still available.

From Brent on Thu, May 15, 2008 at 21:49:17

Second Sasha, always a much better marathon ran first, sight see later. Many Boston runners spend the day before walking the freedom trail or other site seeing. The whole Bostom experience is tough enough with the long uncomfortable wait before start on race day.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

Good seeing you out today!!

From Sasha Pachev on Fri, May 16, 2008 at 11:53:02

A thought. If you run Top of Utah Tom could pace you for his long run.

From Kim on Fri, May 16, 2008 at 14:44:56

Thanks for the idea Sasha. We've considered that option, which sounds like a lot of fun. We have a niece that may be getting married on that same weekend, so it may or may not work out. If we did do it, it could be part of our anniversary celebration which would be kind of cool. Our 22nd anniversary is the day before the TOU marathon.
