Running Accomplishments:

I started running in the fall of 2007.  I truly believe I was inspired to start running and I have seen some very big blessings come my way because of following that inspiration.

Ran Boston Marathon 2013 & 2014.  My favorite PRs:  2011 at the SG 1/2 and 5K where I ran the 5K in 22:22.    2013 Nebo 1/2 (downhill) 1:36:15

Short-Term Running Goals:

Long-Term Running Goals:

Running throughout life with Tom. Staying healthy and happy.

Learn from others, learn from myself, work hard, do my best, enjoy!

On running and on life.....

On occasion we need to make a second effort - and a third effort, and a fourth effort, and as many degrees of effort as may be required to accomplish what we strive to achieve.

Last night when Tom and I went to bed we thought about getting up and getting some miles in before he went to work.   But we said that if we woke up and heard that nasty SF wind that we would continue to sleep and get our miles in later.  We heard the wind....so we slept!

When I went out after getting the kids off to school I was glad we hadn't ventured out in the dark with how slippery the roads were.  Back to winter for a few days.  I guess Mother Nature got confused between a lamb and a T-Rex because March came in like a lion and is leaving like a T-Rex!

I ran 3 miles and then had to get my dog to the vet.  Spent a bunch of money on him there and booked him a kennel for spring break.  (He's not going to like his spring break very much.).  I came home and ran to the school to put some PTA notes in the teacher's cubbies and finished off another 3 for a total of 6 today.

Yesterday I had them announce in Relief Society that anyone who wants to start up on a walking/running/wogging program to meet at my house this morning.  Zero, (besides myself), showed.  Where is their commitment?

Kim you did great today! I think maybe with some nice spring weather some of the RS sisters might show up for you. There aren't too many WOWs like you out there.

From Terry on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 14:58:01

Wogging is tough work. Plus you are probably intimidating due to the good form you are in.

From Bonnie on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 15:07:46

Well, Kim, the weather did not help inspire committment in those that are not already committed (like you!). Maybe you could suggest walking TO something - is there any place that a majority of the ladies go often (library?) -- when I was first getting into exercise again I would often use my errands (small grocery pick-up, post office, etc.) as a way to get some "miles" in ...

Glad to see you got out there today!! It is my usual day off today, and I was glad about it this morning!

The thing that bugs me is I have so many people who SAY they want to get going on an exercise program and ask me about it all the time. I have 2 that have come a bit, but even they weren't there this morning. I guess when the sun shines more consistently then maybe they will show up more consistently.

From Bonnie on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 15:55:16

I know ... I have a lot of friends like that too ... many people don't realize how much of a committment it is. Chin-up Kim, don't give up on them!! At the very least you can continue to shine by example!

Nice job getting out today Kim, it was tough out there. I hope to see you and Tom at striders this weekend, it should be fun:)

From Jody on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 19:43:46

Great job - this weather was nasty! I echo the lack of commitment! I have a couple of really close friends that suffer from this same issue - drives me crazy!!

From Sylvie on Mon, Mar 31, 2008 at 19:46:56

I've run for a lot of years and only found a small handfull of friends that actually have run with me. When you look at how many runners per nonrunners you might not find any one in the whole Stake. Good job in getting it done.

Bye bye :)

We have a great runner in our RS and she had the same problem a couple years ago. Unfortunately, I was one of the people that didn't show up! She had 3 different times to meet for different things and I couldn't remember when they were. (Oops) So, don't give up - maybe some of the ladies will eventually come around like I did. :o)

Every one is just in awe on how fit you are and how much energy you have.

Most need to learn the way to get energy is to use energy. Keep at them and get them out!!!!

Kim, you got the WOW factor. If they only knew the value of earning the WOW factor, it would change thier lives. No doubt, with Gwen singing loudly if they embraced the challenge. Everyday, I try and pay the running experience forward. Once in a while, someone accepts the life change challenge. I have had 5 running friends that started as walkers and embraced the challenge that now run marathons. Someone, some brave soul, will take you up on the challenge, keep paying it forward, even if, no one seems brave.

I appreciate the encouragement from all of you! I love the pay it forward idea! I'm glad Tom payed it forward to me.
