This morning I met up with my "iwannarunna5k" gals for thier day number 2! I was so proud of them! All of them showed up plus one more even when it was chilly and windy! So there are 19 following my little training here in town and a few others following along in other areas! This will all lead up to their first 5k on May 21st! Sad story today though.....one gal fell. She was so cute, just smiled and jumped up and finished the workout. It was dark out so she couldn't really see what she had done to herself. She just knew that she had scraped up her hands a bit. Well...I just got an update from her....she went home and found gravel in her hands and as she started trying to wash it out she realized her knee was hurting....long story short.....she had to have 8 stitches and a tetnus shot! : ( How sad.....but she said, "I love this and I'll see you Friday morning!" What a trooper!
Later Tom and I went out for our run in the sunshine. Unfortunately there was still more wind than we wanted, especially for a tempo run, but that's life here in the windy city. We did a 3 mile warm up and then a 3 mile tempo with a 2 mile cool down. Ave. Pace for tempo 7:40. |
