Did the temple loop this morning. I felt pretty good, so I pushed the pace a bit. More than four of the five miles was at lactate threshold or above. My legs were definitely feeling the burn by the time I finished the long uphill section. Finished more than a minute faster that last week. After a 8:03 pace for the first mile, dropped to 7:49 for the second. Took it easy from the temple to the white church (8:33 pace) and then pushed it up the long hill (9:26 and 8:26). Finished the last half mile at 7:35 pace or better (6:20 for the last quarter). Going to take Sasha's advice and do a 3 mile easy run tomorrow.

Recovery day. Just want to start getting in a fourth day of running each week. Ran at a very relaxed pace and enjoyed running along the trails behind the high school and along the creek.

Ran quarter mile intervals this morning at the Lone Peak HS track (measured distance with GPS not the track markings).

After a mile and a quarter warmup:

1 - 1:34, 6:19 pace

2 - 1:34, 6:19 pace

3 - 1:30, 6:03 pace

4 - 1:30, 6:03 pace

5 - 1:32, 6:11 pace

6 - 1:32, 6:11 pace

7 - 1:32, 6:11 pace

8 - 1:32, 6:11 pace

Rested 1:30 between sets. Cooldown 1.25 miles.

As it's been a while since I ran quarter mile intervals, my times were a little slower than I'd hoped. My target was 5:30 to 6:00 minute pace. Most of the time I'd start out around 5:45, but would start to fade by the end. Overall, I felt pretty good after the workout, but realize that I have a way to go yet.

Great morning for a run. Greg and I ran a pretty relaxed pace through the initial downhill and flat section and then pushed it through the uphill. Average pace dropped from 8:50 last week (12 mile run) to 8:37 this week. I experimented with eGel for this run. One before we started and one at the half way point. Seemed to work well. Had sufficient energy throughout the run. No stomach problems.
