My wife Laureen got me into running. She went into the St. George Marathon Ten Year Club last year and I should go in this year. I have two daughters (15 and 21).

Great morning for a run. Greg and I ran a pretty relaxed pace through the initial downhill and flat section and then pushed it through the uphill. Average pace dropped from 8:50 last week (12 mile run) to 8:37 this week. I experimented with eGel for this run. One before we started and one at the half way point. Seemed to work well. Had sufficient energy throughout the run. No stomach problems.

Good work. Nice to see some progress. However, 4 days a week is not good. This is perhaps the reason you cannot run a 3:04 marathon, a strong contributing factor at the very least. Try to do 6 from now on. Go 2-3 miles easy, easy on the off-days, but make sure to go out every day Monday through Saturday.
