My wife, Teresa, has stayed by my side for over 21 years and I am a much better person as a result. Kristoffer, our only child, is now 15 and continues to exceed all my expectations. If you look in the dictionary under the word luck you will see my smiling face.

I substituted snow shoveling for running today as Kristoffer and I worked to clear the effects of winter weather from the driveway at home in addition to the parking lot at the office. I have no idea what the conversion of snow shovel to running should be but I definitely got a workout.

Tomorrow I MUST be back on the road.

Woo hoo! I pulled off my first 10 mile run today and I did it in some beautiful snow fall. A few times the flakes got large enough that it collected on the front of my reflective vest, knit cap and even on my iPod earphones cable.

Well, I got to explore just how sore my legs can be after a 10 mile run as I went to get an easy 3 miler this afternoon. The hamstrings are very tender so I had to stop a few times during the run to stretch and walk a bit to recover. With some ibuprofen and an evening of building for Kristoffer's science project I hope to be ready for tomorrow's longer workout.

I had a great time with friends and family last night to see out the last moments of 2009 as well as to welcome 2010 into our lives. To get the new decade started off on the right foot I made sure to get out on the trails this afternoon.

After watching the Sherlock Holmes movie, I took time for a short -- but very cold -- jog to finish out this week of running. Under the clear skies, the wind was still but there was still a decent amount of windchill and I was COLD for the first mile or so. Then as I finished I made a point of getting into the vehicle quickly as what sweat I had generated began to chill with a vengeance.
