My wife, Teresa, has stayed by my side for over 21 years and I am a much better person as a result. Kristoffer, our only child, is now 15 and continues to exceed all my expectations. If you look in the dictionary under the word luck you will see my smiling face.

"Lateral knee pain in a long distance runner" is the current diagnosis attached to my medical problem at the moment. Dr. Nils Axelson didn't want to put anything more specific until the results of the upcoming MRI are received and evaluated. He's quite sure it is "persistent, non-responsive ITBS" but wants to rule out the very slight chance of torn cartilage. X-rays indicate my knees are healthy and well-formed. The only unusual feature is that my patella does not sit into the femur symmetrically but apparently that is not uncommon.

Feeling on my knee Dr. Axelson found swelling on the back of the knee. No pain when moving the patella up-and-down but definite pain when shifting it sideways.

I have a prescription for Mobic and am waiting to hear when I will have the MRI. Dr. Axelson told me "no running" until the pain was completely gone from everyday activities but assured me that if it was in fact persistent ITBS that I should be running again in the new year.

So I'm crossing my fingers.

Sounds like something relatively easily treatable....good news!

Def sounds like good news, hopefully a little rest and you'll be back at it in no time!
