My wife, Teresa, has stayed by my side for over 21 years and I am a much better person as a result. Kristoffer, our only child, is now 15 and continues to exceed all my expectations. If you look in the dictionary under the word luck you will see my smiling face.

Nice and sunny but the temps were down in the 50s with a stiff 10-15mph wind from the south. I wore shorts and long sleeves which kept me warm enough but needed a stocking cap as my ears were numbed in the wind.

The most important thing was my calf pain. Doing stretches afterwards I found a stretch that seemed to land right where I was feeling the pain and eased it a bit. Coming home and looking through the exercise sites as well as staring at a few anatomical diagrams leads me to believe the pain is originating near where the soleus joins to become the calcaneous. In the days ahead I am going to focus on stretching the calves.

So who are you rooting for in this weekend's NFL playoffs?

As w/ most playoffs I just hope for some good games!!

Couple days late, but congrats on the 8 min! I'm dreading mine! haha..

I'm certainly no doctor or running expert, but I did have a very bad experience w/ calve pain my senior year of high school. Long story short I thought it was nothing, then shin splints, until it finally (~3 months) got so bad I could barely walk, pain radiated from ankle to mid thigh. Turned out I had ripped the calve muscle on both left and right leg. Dr. diagnosed in about 30 seconds. I couldn't do anything for 6 weeks, and was real restricted for another 4 weeks! If it keeps up you might consider getting checked, you'd hate to have all your hard work "thrown away" and your momentum halted as you "ride the pine" for 6+ weeks!

Also I cant wear a cap unless it's REAL cold, some guys I know will wear one of those ear warmer bands, that just cover your ears instead of a full cap. My head gets way to hot in a full cap when I'm running! But we all know I'm full of hot air anyway..
